Clifford Wireless Immobilizer - Potential Problems?
The guy at the alarm shop told me that the Clifford Wireless Immobilizer works great if there are no problems, but when a problem occurs, it isn't good. He says that people have had their cars towed to the shop because they were unable to start their car or their car stalls while driving as a result of the Wireless Immobilizer failing. The guy in the shop and one of the shop's installers both say that they would not recommend the Wireless Immobilizer for that reason. I followed their recommendation and didn't order the Wireless Immobilizer with my system. My installation appointment is in two weeks, so there is still time to change my system options if I so desire. Does anybody have the Clifford Wireless Immobilizer? Any of you ever have problems with it or heard similar stories about it from friends or alarm shops?
Never had a problem with it other than it is almost useless. You can just turn the car off then back on after it shuts off.
My Clifford wireless immobilizer failed at work. It activated for no reason cutting off my fuel pump. Major pain
. Just add a well hidden kill switch and screw the immobilizer, i won't be replacing my immobilizer.

I have never had any issues with the units I've installed. I will admit that it makes me nervous to know that if the unit does fail, I'm SOL. This is why I use a hidden fuse link just in case it fails. This compromises the security a little but as long as it's well-hidden, you should be fine. The fuse link technique is also used in situations where a normally-open starter-kill relay is used.
