Default Clifford vs Vipper

I have done the searches. I had a clifford AG4 in my previous car. Loved it. Had great features. Worked well. However, I wasnt able to see its durability due to an accident which totaled my car.

I have read that several people choose the Viper 550 over the Clifford AG4. They say the clifford is bad and tends to break quicker. The more I look at the viper, the more I see that it appears to have a cheaper look to it. The unit looks boxier and thicker, the valet switch looks cheaper, and the external relays look disgusting.

Anyone have any real life experience as to why I shouldnt get the Clifford? No heresay.

I'm not completely sure but I was told by an audio shop that viper bought out clifford. I had problems with my clifford as well and switched to viper. I had a clifford concept 100. The alarm would go off at all times of the day and night for no reason and sometimes it wouldn't even arm.

Your right clifford was bought out by DEI (the company that makes viper). as for the actual question at hand it depends alot on how its wired, where its placed in the car (away from water, dirt etc.) all alarms are not perfect, just go for the one you most like, (features and looks ), there both real good alarms.

Clifford was purchased by DEI which also owns Viper, Hornet, Bulldog, etc. etc. Part of the deal was that DEI has to honor the Clifford warranty. So in the case of the Avantguard 4 and many other G4 alarms, there is a lifetime warranty on the brain. I've had an Avantguard 4 for about 4 years now and love it. Toasted one brain about a month after I got it but was replaced promptly.

I have a Viper 550. Everything works fine, but it is quite bulky for an alarm. I think that my next alarm will be a clifford though.

love my clifford solaris. a friend I know has a viper and his car got broken into without the alarm even going off. an as people stated, It all depends on how the install is. an alarm doesnt do **** if its not installed correctly.

What shop would you guys suggest to have an alarm installed at? A smaller specialty like shop or best buy/circuit city type franchise?

There arent many shops around my house. The closest is ran by a bunch of cocky dicks, I came in asked them questions about alarms and they blew me off. Tweeter is near by, but I dont think they deal with AG4. The previous alarm I installed myself, but I think now I want to have it done by a dealer for the warranty of the system.

I'd go with the smaller speciality shop. You may pay a bit more, but hopefully it will be well worth it.
