Default Alpine SEC-150R

Alpine SEC-150R
Anyone have any experience with this alarm? How does it compare in terms of quality/functions to a Viper alarm? Is the constant beeping loud and annoying? What do you think.. Thanks.

I install these all the time. Alpine alarms are ****. Hard as hell to program and the shock sensors on them can be very inaccurate sometimes. GET A VIPER, or at least something DEI.

The redesigned model as well as the older ones are GREAT alarms...its just that installers are creatures of habit ( for the most part) and like to do things one way only. The installation and programming are more involved than say a DEI product but offers the same quality of protection when in the hands of a skilled and knowlegable installer.

Its a great product...enjoy it.

Im skilled and knowledgeable, unlike the dumb mother ******* who designed their programming menus and procedures. They have the same features as a DEI alarm thats comparable in features. Total bullshit alarm though. you shouldnt have to program your lock polarity for the keyless, this risks alot of installers damaging cars... Fah Q ALPINE ! ( I still love my APN H/U)

Hmmm....quite a unique and bold statement since the alarm is quite similar
in design to DEI products, possible made by them....not an unlikely venture
considering trends now.

I def agree with you. I have installed those Alpine alarms too. They are pretty good but they are a pain in the *** to program. What kind of alarm makes you program the shock sensor anyway?? Get a DEI alarm they are the best man and you cant go wrong with them.

true the programing menu is longer, but offers much more flexability and customisation for different features and vehicles. the only thing that i would say is a disadvantage to the alpine alarms is their range, but it is an alarm and who needs to unlock their doors from over 1000 feet anyways? i think dei makes a quality piece and i am not knocking them in any way, but when you get used to the alpine alarms (installing and programming) they can offer many more options and possible features. and being able to adjust the motion sensor and shock sensor through the remote is a great feature i think for the person who made the comment "What kind of alarm makes you program the shock sensor anyway??" stop being LAZY people, that is why alpine is not sold in chain stores. their alarms used to not even come with install manuals, that way it HAD to be installed by a "trained professional".

true.. but we do sell and install them at circuit city all the time... it is a great alarm, a lot of programing but worth it..

my friend installs alarms (and stereos) day in and day out as his job.. and he chose to put an Alpine alarm system in his vehicle (he could have gotten anything else of his choice at cost)... I think that says something about Alpine

personally I've been happy w/ Clifford alarms.. but Alpine is also

I've installed both DEI and Alpine alarms. The DEIs are very easy to install for the DIY'er. Alpine alarms are not as easy as DEI but isn't hard in general. While it is true that programming is a little tough without the instructions, it is rather easy with it. My shock sensor for it is too sensitive as I have it at full unsensitive and it is still too sensitive. The radar on it works well although it tends to be a bit more sensitive on the passenger side than the driver side. I can't say much for other brands since I haven't worked with them much. But I've always had Alpine alarms on my cars (5 cars to date) and none were ever stolen.

alpine 150r offers 3 programable outputs, plus priority door locks, output for a pager, prewired motion sensor, adjustable shock and motion sensors through the remote, valet activation through the remote, output while armed, a sensor disable input for adding a remotestart, very flexable and extensive programing menu, they offer many accesories for their alarms but do have average to poor range. they are similar to the dei alarm but go a little further with the options. i like dei alarms but perfer the alpine. if i were to do an alarm with remote start i would probably not do a alpine since their range isnt that great but otherwise a quality alarm.
