Default cd player trim

i recently put in an Alpine 7893, which by the way is real nice, but the only problem is i dont like the way it doesnt fit perfectly like the factory one. What are my options as far as cleaning that up? would making a fiberglass dash piece to go around there be a good/easy idea? anyone ever done that before? if so any links to how-to's? thanks

I did this with fiberglass, it is NOT easy or quick. A lot of fiberglass, bondo, sanding, grinding, more bondo, more sanding, then a final gel coat. Took me 2 days.
