Default cd changer control problem......

i'm using my brothers 86 civic, with a EG radio in it, all weekend (going skiiing)

i have this ipod adaptor thinger (Blitzsafe technologies thing). it plugs into the factory cd changer port in the back of 91-98 honda radios. it plugs into his, and doesnt do anything. i used to use this thing in my 97 integra stereo in my old daily, and it worked great... it would work just like a changer when you selected the input (am/fm/tape/changer button)

any ideas? or is it a lost cause. I know nothing about these things...do i have to flip a switch orsomething?

Not to be too rude but , it's an 86 Civic, [what year is the EG unit? or is that something I should know, like EGs were only made for 1 or 2 years? ] the adapt. works in 91-98 Honda/Acura's, you have been using it in a 97 teg, what am I missing? 94
