The alternator casing to battery negative is an extra unneeded ground.

My suggestion is to start out the "normal" way that I did it to prevent confusion.

one thing i have never understood about upgrading grounds is why do people only do half the work. for example. one of my friends with an 01 GSR did the ground on his v-tec selenoid. so increasing the size of the wire on the ground may decrease teh voltage drop in the ground wire but what about teh wire actually carrying power to the selenoid? you're only doing 1/3 of the circuit.

I understand the benefit of doing the big 3 mainly if you have a stereo but some of these grounds tat people are coming up with boggle my mind.

So if their motor mounts fall off, the grounds will hold up the engine.

Jomo, where the hell you find seven ground points. Second thought, never mind.

alright this is being brought back up b/c i have multiple questions that are confusing to me.

I own a 1995 acura integra gsr sedan.

1. I have relocated my battery to the trunk using an Optima yellowtop. I have ran a 4ga wire from the engine bay to the trunk. Is this 4 guage wire sufficient? i.e. current / power wise?

2. If I want to do the 3/7 point of grounding as suggested how do I go about doing so? All my grounds are no longer attached to the battery but directly to the chassis now.

also this is what my system consist of please tell me if I will be havingpower issues or troubles that anyone can forsee:

rockford fosgate 800a4 and 1000a2 running:
(1) hx2 12" sub
(1) Boston Acoustic 2 way 6x9
2 Component Sets of Boston Acoustic Pro speakers

Thanks

Basically run a very good ground from the battery to the chassis. Then you upgrade your other grounds, like the engine to chassis. Personally if you are going to run a relocated battery and a system, I would do a 0 gauge run to the battery from the front. Then you can wire your system off 8 or 4 gauge since the runs will be very short from the battery.

You have the tranny to chassis, and the alternator + to battery +.

That block is half of the fuse holder for an anl fuse.

Vteg. Question. I want to upgrade my alternator + to my battery + . My questions is what type of end do I need to connect the wire to the + post on my alternator? I just didn't take the time to look and was wondering if you knew off the top of your head. Also, how is the alternator grounded?

The alt has a case ground. the alt is mounted to the eng and the engine is grounded threw the valve cover and tranny. I think there should be a terminal on the alt that you can just hook up a ring termanal to for the +. and if you have an 80A alt use an 80A fuse. I left the orignial wiring there too. just added the 0 Gauge

A 100 amp anl fuse should be fine for the batt to alt connection. When you look at the top of the alt you will see a little red rubber cover. That is the positive terminal. Just loosen the nut and connec the cable. A normal 4 gauge terminal end is sufficient.

where can you get some ring terminals for 4gauge for cheap? they're expensive just for 2 rings. Also the pictures are dead, if you could repost. Does the upgrade help if you don't have a system?

Where on the engine do I put the terminal?? Can it be btw any bolt on the engine and a metal surface?? How do I ground the engine to the chassis? And since this thread has just been brought back from the dead again, I have another question....I don't replace any wires right? Is this because the electricity will always take the path of least resistance?
