battery -- stereo voltage
Hello-
Long story short, I tore into the dash of my wife's 93' Civic to replace a small bulb that was burnt out. After putting everything back together, the dash clock and stereo don't work. Fuses are all good, the only thing that seems odd to me is that the direct conneciton between battery and stereo, or battery and clock (not ignition switched) shows less than 1V when the car is turned off, and just over 4V when the car is idling. I expected to see something close to 12V, but because these circuits are only used to maintain the memory in the clock and stereo, I figure the readings might be normal.
Does anyone know (or would be so kind as to measure) the normal voltage between the battery and a functioning stereo and clock? Anything else I should try or check?
Thanks for your help.
Bryce
