Yeah you can use it without the fuse, but not recommended. Electrical surge goes through the wire and say good bye to whatever's on the other end of the wire.

i see..scaryy haha well i just got a new wire for it with the fuse.. on an amp..is it better to put the battery power cable on the amp first then connect to the battery? or the other way around? i dont wanna get shock
as long as your ground cable is off the battery, and wont come back and touch the terminal, you dont have anything to worry about, do whatever you like, but id run from battery to AMP, so you have the best, straightest, and shortest line of Power wire.
Surges aren't the main reason the fuses exist, and there is a lot to worry about without a fuse in line.
Scenario: Run a power wire directly to the trunk of a car from the battery. You decide to move a heavy object around which pinches the wire, causing the metal core to touch the chassis (ground). Without a fuse, there is nothing to protect things from going bad.. real bad.
This happened to a friend of mine while we were working on his car. One of the wires became pinched under a bolt, shorting out the system without a fuse in line. As a result, the wire instantly became HOT, smoking (almost burning) the carpet above it. There is no doubt the vehicle would have caught on fire either by the heat or battery exploding if we didn't take the bolt cutters and sever the wire.
The fuse MUST BE located next to the battery, not in the trunk. If the wire becomes sliced by the sheetmetal in the firewall, the same thing will happen. Your equipment is the last thing to worry about.
Just spend a few bucks for a good fuseholder. It is much cheaper than claiming fire damage on your car!

my cousin did an amp install into his Taraus SHO without a fuse... the firewall or something dug into the power wire over time.. and one day while it was sitting in the parking lot of his high school the whole car burst into flames. Needless to say the car was totalled.
