Autolock scam?
Well, after reading one story after another about carjackings, and since I live in the DC area and my car's already been broken into once this year, I wanted to invest in some protection that could be seen physically to the attempting thief. I was looking on ebay, and this is what I came across:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33720
But I think this guy has an automatic? Eh. I'll pay 25 bux easy if it can keep the amateurs away.

you can use the AutoLock on either the brake or the clutch

I got an alarm, club and autolock. Actually "T-Rex Lock." I can say that my car was attempted on, and then they saw it, and moved on. Recommended.
Yes, anything can be sawed off. But if they are going through all that trouble to beat the alarm, cut the club, and saw the autolock, they should take my car.
The idea is to preven the rookies for targeting your car.

I have the autolock too. It's only a prevention method. If they want it they'll take my car. Like the others said it keeps the rookie away from my car.

What you can do is try park where there is something blocking the front of the car, like a curb, light pole, or another car. This way they have to tow from the rear. Also, turn your steering wheel, so if the car is towed, it will start to turn and hit the car parked next to you. If they want your car, it's going have to be damaged. This only work if you don't put the trans in gear. Putting it in gear will only allow them to drag it out. You want the car to roll, so the car on the side will somewhat protect you.
Lastly, you are wondering, they can simply lift the front, put in on a "skate board," and then tow the car. True, but that may be too much work, and make the job a lot longer.
Try to keep this in mind when you park.

There was this show on the Discovery Channel the other day. A reformed car thief said if you had just a club or just an alarm, he would still take your car. Now if you had the alarm, club and autolock, he said he would probably pass on your car. Too much work I guess. He said he personally used an autolock on his ride. Like everybody else here says: layers of security work.

True, and that's the key. It's the layer of security. If it's too much work, they won't bother. It takes me an extra 15 secs to do both the club and "T-Rex" (autolock). It's worth the time.

all of the bar type security systems can be easily bypassed with a simple tool that simply exterts pressure on the weakest point on the mechanism.
If someone wants your car, its theirs. However, multi-layer security such as kill swithes, back up sirens, autolock, vin engravings etc. all make a potential sweet car for a theif to steal a pain in the *** !

You know automatics have the shift lock keyhole near the shifter right? Just put the key in there and you can still drive off.

Yes. I think one will need to brake to drive it.

Yes, they could use the e brake, downshift, turn on/off engine, tow truck, picks, etc. to take a car. As it was already established above, autolock can be beat. I hope no one think it will actually prevent thieves from taking their car. The idea is deterrent. If they move on to another car (because it's too much trouble), the autolock did the job.

So you think your car is safe at home? Right...what ever helps you
sleep through the night. A few years back unknown person or persons
hit 50 cars.. in one community. They went from garage to garage
if you had an armed security system you were left alone. They had got
one of my customers sons crx radio ( he left his doors unlocked) but her
suv had a remote start alarm installed by me 3 days prior..( i did his radio
a month earlier) Needless to say they came back to me. Basically imagine a massive crime scene out of a movie.
so live and learn.

Oh ya and the people saying autolocker didn't work, they didn't put it on right, u have to lock that **** down hard, and make sure u can't move the dam thing, autolocker + club = a bitch to take off + a alarm = hard as ****, most theifts will try a different car
What peeps fail to realize is that time is a thiefs worst enemy.
The longer it takes him to get it and go...the more chance it is for
him to be caught. The idea which seems to escape many of us is
the more roadblocks we put up the better chance we have
against theft. Yes any determined theft can get it...but lets be real
many of us drive 2g-5g civics and the like...are in our late teens early
20's and dont have any real expenses except for our cars. Most of
our income goes toward it....and we alwanys want the cool go fast
looking things..so security lags behind. Most of of thefts are by our
own group and we make it eiaser for them to do it. Its really a shame.
Oh one thing.....all you that have pager alarms with the intent of
" catching a sleaze ball in the act and dealing a little justice" please
wake the **** up.......Your car can be replaced you can't. All those
superhero fantasies should leave your head right now. All you are
going to do is get hurt, maimed for life or worse...become worm food.
Sure you will be missed...but time heals all wounds....Parents will take a
dream vacation....your lil brother is flogging the **** out of your ride...and
your sweet ,will always love you forever, significant other..is clawing at the
sheets calling someone else 'Daddy'. You live long enough..you to will see
shyt like this............
Aint life a bitch
Cheers

Yeah, I have heard of some nice cars still being taken. Not much you can do about a forklift and a flatbed!
That's what LoJack is for, to find where it ends up!
