But you don't have to pay for the install if you don't want to have it installed by them.

Working at Best Buy, I have sold and purchased several alarms w/out install.

I don't remember us being able to do that when I worked there a few years ago. Back then, it was actually built into the price. If you can do that now, then it is definitely an option.

Well, if your car is manual transmission, then you're only option is a Compustar with remote start.

If your car is automatic, then you can get the Viper 5900.

If you need turbo timer, then any alarm remote start, [with turbo timer] can be used, if the remote start is not compatible with standard transmission, and you want it to be foolproof, don't connect up the remote starts starter wire, it is not needed for turbo timer.

This is what you do, find an authorized dealer for the brand you want to get, don't forget it has to be a current model, tell the salesman the model you want, let him know what you can get it for off the Internet, and yes, you not only understand that the Internet unit has no warranty and you will have to pay more for it there, but you do not want to pay for an install, [as you are having your brother in law, the best installer in the world do the install] and you want a good price, and you have cash, no credit/bank debit cards or checks, cash money, most places still prefer cash, [as they pay no fees on cash transactions]

You should be able to get a brand name unit with at least 1 years manufacturer's warranty, no install warranty obviously, so you will have to do your own Re&Re, if we sell over the counter and someone other then an authorized dealer installs it, and you have a problem with it, we request you bring it to us still connected in the car but have the main brain and it's plugs accessible so we can do a function test, if we determine the unit is the problem, we will send it in for warranty for you, to avoid possible problems with warranty coverage, we will even supply a customer with a tag in sheet for his car, and some advice/tips on install, we also will have a quick look and test of the system once installed, also free of charge, it's in our best interest to be of service to our customers. 94

The difference is the shutdown sequence on the Compustar that prevents the car from being remote started in gear...

No DEI starters right now are made for manual transmissions.

thats a good idea, i dont want to remote start it anyways.... an authorized dealer? i guess i can talk to alarm stores and see if they will sell just the alarm without the install. what even fails on these alarms? i dont understand unless something shorts inside the module, or the siren fries? anyways thanks for the help and i still want to see if wrx- killer has any alarms to sell currectly. does anyone know?
