Default another alarm question

I current have a clifford maxtrix 2.5x alarm installed in my car. I plan on pulling my dash to clean some stuff up behind it. I also wanted to hide the alarm wiring and and move the brain/relays cuz best buy did a messy install. I just wanted to know if i clip some of the wires and reroute/reconnect them am I going to have any problems with the alarm afterwords? Do I need to reprogram anything afterwords also? Thanks in advance

You should have no problems. Just make notes of the wires you cut and make sure to solder and tape/heatshrink your extensions.

Also, you should not have to reprogram anything when you're done.

What kind of car? If you've got a 96-00 Civic, good place for the alarm brain (especially if you've still got the factory deck) is right under the factory radio. Almost impossible to get to from under the dash.

I would say just know if anything goes wrong and you have to bring it back to best buy they will viod your warranty on the unit and the install if they know you messed with it.

Take pics of it before (how they installed it) and tell them that they did a shitty job and that's why you messed with it and tell them you'll call corporate if they don't honor the warranty...

Yeah but the alarm was installed over 2 years ago so the installation warranty is probably void by now. The alarm worked fine and I didn't think nothing of it to check on the installation. I really didn't notice the mess till I did my motor swap a few months ago and I was trying to find an illuminaton wire for my gauges.

Best Buy advertises a LIFETIME workmenship warranty on there installs. This means the will warranty there install as long as you own your car. If its a DEI alarm remote start that also has a lifetime warranty so yeah. If you think the install is that bad bring it back and make them redo it. If they wont call corporate (ask for the # they have to give it to you) If they dont help you try to get a letter in to the hands of Bradbury Anderson hes the CEO. I used to work there when the CEO was Dick Shultz who started Best Buy. I got acctally got a call from him giving me the OK to swap out a mobile video for a customer who some how cracked the screen and demolished the VCP like crushed it. The thing was like 3 years old at this time. He said he got a letter from the guy. I was like WTF? He said give him a brand new one, the best one we have in stock, and install everything asap all free of charge. This just goes to show the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

I would much rather do it myself. I want all the connections soldered and the wire harness wrapped in loom. And I don't think Best buy will spend the time to rewire it the way I want anyway. I am fairly competant about the rewiring. I have done my share of wiring. I am just not that farmiliar with alarms. So would there be any problems if I cut and extended wires with the battery disconnected for a long period of time? The alarm does have a back up battery installed already. Will the alarm reset it's self with the battery disconnected? It should just work normally when everything gets reconnected right?
