Default 2 component systems

Has anyone ever done two component systems in their car. By this i mean taking the 6x9s out of the back and instead puttin a 6 1/2 component speaker and mounting a sepret tweeter up alil higher say in the pillar in the rear of the car.

I currently have Eclipse 6x9 4 ways in the rear and a Diamond HEX series component system in the front and the sound is sooo much clearer in the front. That is why i was thinking about this setup. I also has a JLW6v2 in the trunk. All the speakers are powered by a polk 400.4 amp. In reality wouldnt this work because all ur highs, mids and lows would be covered, it would just make it sound better in the backseat.

well sure it could work but you wouldnt want to put ur tweeter up high you would be better off making a custom plate to fit both the 6" and the tweet on in the factory 6x9 location.
If you put your tweeter up high you will pull your imaging to the back too much, fade your speakers to the front more, this will make you not notice the back speakers as much and focus on your front imaging.
I dont even have back speakers in my lude. I was considering running some type of one way or two way speaker though.
If you can bi-amp your diamonds go for it take all that amp power and send it to your fronts, n run the eclipses off of the radio.

I have a 00 lude with hex in the front and the 561 in the rear. just make a bracket and put them where the 6x9s where. It sounds great. I just recomend you going with diamond in the rear also.

rear speakers throw off imaging and staging. you want your sound to come from the front... good comps in front with a nice amp to power them

I have a set of Eclipse 6 1/2 3ways brand new in the box do u think they would sound alot better than the 6x9s since 6 1/2 speakers are generally alot cleaner than 6x9?
