Default amps?

im a newb to subs and i have a 12" cerwin-vega sub rated at 800w @ 4ohms. The amp that was on it was a rockford fosgate 250s i think and it was in a ported box. What kind of specs on an amp should look for to use this sub at its full potential?

get at least a 500 watt amp so that your sub nor your amp will be working as hard

i was looking at a 600 watt amp, so should i get a 2-channel and bridge it to put out 600 watts or does it not work that way?

for single sub at 4 ohm, it is ideal to get a 2 channel and bridge it. Most power out of the amp... usually sounds pretty good as long as the amp can handle it. I recommend not rockfordfosgate but either a mtx, jl audio, or memphis amplifier for mid-performance. higher end... do some research or check out cardomains site. rated and priced.
