AMP And Volt Question
I have a 95 ex and have 2 rockford amps in it... i have a duralast gold battery that has been in there for a year... ive noticed that the car runs at 14 volts while driving but while stoped it goes to 12.6 volts.... the car also seems like it almost wants to cut off... i really need some advice on what i need to do... i have a rockford 1 farat cap but dont know if thats enough... its prolly 1200 watts combined with the two amps.... should i get a different alternator... anyone??

Yes the car wants to stall per say.... im not too sure what models they are im presuming they are a bit older... maybe the model from 3 years ago.... also it reads 14.3 volts usually and after the car is on for a bit i get a reading of 12.6 volts.... thats a big thought.... i took it to an audio store and they reccomended to change/upgrade alternator OR to get a bigger cap... they guy was leaning on getting a new/upgraded alternator though... any ideas???
Definitely go to a batt./alt. shop and have it checked out, what concerns me is the drop in voltage from 14.3V to 12.6V once car is warmed up, it sounds to me like once the alt./ voltage regulator heat up the output from the alt. is cut, 12.6V is what I would expect to get off a fully charged batt. when the motor is not running.
Try this, disconnect the amps power, [pull fuse] warm the car up till voltage drops to 12.6V then disconnect the batt., [pull the neg. term.] let me know what happens.

Yes this is what honda's do. I have a digital volt meter hooked up to my car and at stoplights it runs about 12.6 votls and while driving it's about 14.5 volts. My car never feels like it wants to stall at 12.6 votls. I dont even have to be running my stereo for it to drop down to 12.6. It's what the car does. I wish all these so called "audio guru's" would know **** like that and not tell you to get your car fixed.
