amp questions???
I am trying to put in a amp for my 97 civic ex.
I have a question about the wiring of the amp......i need to hook up the remote terminal (RMP wire) for the amp. (remember....6 gen civics do not have power antenna) There is a power antenna lead that comes out of my Pioneer headunit......should i hook it up to that? (does that wire get power from the head unit when the radio is on???) or i should just hook it up to some other accessory wire with a switch in the middle (to turn on or off the amp, so i don't have the amp on when the radio is off)
please give me a post if any of you guys know about this topic!.....i really don't know much about car audio stuff!......thanks a lot
Ps.....do any of you guys with 6 gen civics get these nasty buzzing sounds in the rear when you play songs with a lot of bass?......anyways to fix it???......i know its coming from the deck in the rear (u know......the part that covers the third brake light).....i had new 6X9s in there.....the speakers are installed right......i think is the cheap honda plastic deck......

what kind of buzz is it. alot of times you get a buzz in the rear because of either a bad ground, or the power to where it's going is alot and picks up the engine noise.
thanks for all the help guys!!
ya.....it is the rear deck......it seems like part of the rear deck is really "floppy".....one of my other friends also have the same problem......i think its just one of those things that honda screwed up on.........
just wondering if anyone else have the same problems in their civics.......and what they have done to fix it
btw.....its a 6 gen 2door

try stuffing (cloth, foam, etc.) something between the panel and the steel supports underneath. you may get lucky and find out where the rattle is coming from. after you find the rattle, be ingenious and find other materials that you can stuff in there for a more professional install. good luck.

Depending on what model Pinoneer deck you have, you might not want to use the power natenna remote. On higher models, the stereo is smart enough to lower the antenna when you switch to CD. If your amp is connected to the antenna remote, and the stereo has this feature, then the amp will shut off when you switch to CD. Of course, if the stereo has that feature, then it definitely also has an amp remote lead, which is energized at all times when the unit is on. Moral of the story: use the AMP REMOTE LEAD intead of the ANTENNA REMOTE LEAD, if your head unit is equipped with both.
