Default Amp Offset light comes on with high volume

Hey

I recently posted a thread but I misread the light. I have the offset light come on when I turn up the volume.

I have a Sony XM-2150GSX powering 1 polk audio gnx104 speaker.

Everything works great unless a song with a lot of bass comes on and it will shut the amp off.

What kind of things can I do to figure out what the problem is and correct it?

Have you checked to see if the heatsinks are too hot. The amp may have thermal overload protection to prevent further damage...by shutting off when the temperature within the unit is too hot. If you are running the amp at 4ohms mono...I don't see why it's shutting off. Are you using the correct size power/ground wire for the amplifier?

It has a thermal overload light but that light doesn't come on. I bought a kit that was rated for 1000 watts and my amp is 760 so I assume its fine. The ground is hooked up to the chassis with paint scraped off on the mounting point.

If you disconnect the sub, and turn the volume up, and the light still comes on, you need a new amp, or you need to fix your current amp. If your light doesn't come on, you need a new sub.
