Default alpine peeps

i just found out that the car i bought used (94 GSR) had MB Quarts components in it plus it came w/ a really nice alpine amp. i bought a JVC Kameleon w/ a single pre-out. im such a moron. anyways im selling the JVC and looking to get an Alpine.

because of my limited budget. i really don't want to spend anything over $250. a friend of mine is selling his alpine 7949 for $300 kinda tempting, but its over my budget and i probably don't need all that functions anyways. just want a simple but decent unit, something that can utilize the set up the original ower had in.

btw, what's the difference b/w the alpine 7861 and 7871. its seems like the 7871 has more features but yet it cheaper. is the main difference like the way the face look? those seems to fit my price range.

thanks for the time.....

The 7871 is a current model and the 7861 is discontinued. In terms of features, you get one more preout on the 7871 (total of 3) for subwoofer control. Also you can adjust the center frequency for the treble control. Both units incorporates Alpine's Bass Engine feature which lets you adjust the level as well as the center frequency for even more fine tuning.

I'd definitely go for the 7871 especially if it's cheaper.

hey u live in fort washington, i live near college park, MD.

anyways thanks for the input. its kinda funny that the 7871's are cheaper than the 7861 eventho the 71's offer more features.

right now, im surfing the web for the best price. the cheapest i found so far is $220 for the 7871. know any good places online to buy stereo equipment?
