Default Alpine MRD-M1005

I was wondering if the Alpine MRD-M1005 is a good amp to power my two Alpine SWR-1042D. If not what would be a good amp. Thanks guys.

I love alpine amps, the m1005 has a lot of power for 10's, but it should work great and you wont have to worry about underpowering them

won't work. the swr-1042D is a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub, meaning, you'll either be running the amp at 4 ohms and making no power, or you'll be running it at 1 ohm and shutting the amp down by sending it into protect. if you can find them, get some SWR-1022D, those are dual 2 ohms. and will be a great match for an mrd-m1005. or...run 1042d's with an mrd-m605 on each sub. 2 subs, 2 amps

JL 1000/1 is 1000watts RMS at 4ohm if that's what u need. If your subs are dual voice coil 4 ohms, then it'll wire to 4ohm mono. You need an amp that puts out about 1000watts at 4ohms.

If you wanted to use the Alpine MRD-M1005, you'd need two, dual voice coil 2ohm subs SWR-1022D's.

Just search, there's tons of amps that are rated for 1000watts@4ohms.

The Alpine MRD-M1005 is only half the power you need.

Two Alpine MRD-M605s is better but still underpowered.

Get the JL amp, you will not be disappointed 94

If you wire up your subs to 1.5 or 2 ohm and use the JL 1000/1, the adjustments (mainly gain & boost) will get really figety. I wouldn't recommend it. But if you must try, (much like myself. I like to mess around with it no matter what other people say) then go for it. I'm sure you'll agree. My JL salesrep does and their techs do.

I would series the VCs, [8 ohm load] parallel the subs [back to 4 ohms] the JL amp will like it there. 94
