Default alpine cva-1005 problem

question about an install that hopefully somebody can help me with..

i got an alpine cva-1005 that is going in my car.. the problem is, i got everything hooked up and i think wired correctly.. but the unit wont turn on..

so i rechecked all the wiring and there doesnt seem to be anything wrong.. is it possible the cva brain went bad? and if so is there a way to check it to see if its still in good working condition?

any and all info is appreciated

thanks

Even if the brake wires are not hooked up at all the unit will still turn on, you just cand watch a DVD, but everything else will work, check all the power and grounds, the HU has an acc., [switched power] a ground and an illumination wire. the "amp" control box has the acc. the ground and the constant power, [yellow], make sure all these wires are connected properly and that the acc. has 12V+ when you turn the ign. key on, and the yellow, [constant power] has 12V+ all the time, [no matter what you do with ign. switch, if you get it working, wire the foot and Ebrake the way you are supposed to, so it works like it is supposed to, and get back to me and I will show you a way to "bypass" it. 94

alright thanks.. i didnt get a chance to mess with it anymore yet.. ive been busy but hopefully later this evening...

as far as the brake wires go.. where exactly do i find the brake wire at? and the ebrake wire.. im guessing is the small red one running to the ebrake.

another question i also have an alpine dva-5205 i beleive is the unit.. anyway alpine dvd player.. now the plug in the back has 4 wires comming out.. red yellow black and white/brown i beleive is the other one.. so would the wht/brwn one be a remote wire?? any ideas?

The foot brake wire, [green/white] can be found at the brake light switch, on a bracket just above the brake peddle, the E/hand brake wire can be found under the console, plugged into a switch at the base of the E brake, whatever color it is, there is only one wire.
Yes, the white/brown is the control lead. 94

so the brown/white wire from the dvd player needs to be hooked up with the remote wire going into the brain of the monitor.. which in return would allow the dvd player to turn on..

correct me if im wrong

you dont need to hook up the brake wires in order for the head unit to work. the brake wires are used to change settings and play an aux in. ive used that head unit for about a year until they stole it. if it ends up beeing that you have a bad brain contact me i have an extra one with all the wires and whatnot.

well he said that the unit wont turn on. that has nothin to do with the dvd player or brake wires. teh brown and white wire goes to the brown and white wire (if im not mistaken) from the brain.

its a dva-5205..

im also running a era-g320 dsp

and they are all AI-NET systems.. although im not really sure how the whole AI-NET thing works...

but the bwn/wte wire coming from the dvd player is the only one that i didnt know where it got connected..

also i orginally thought my brain was bad..so i had it sent to an alpine dealer to have that and the dsp tested and they told me they were both in normal working condition.. since i got it back i havnt really had a chance to mess with anymore becuase i need to get the head back on the car and get it running first..

hopefully that will all be done this weekend tho.

Well I can not find any wiring info on the DVA-5205, do you not have the owners/install manuals for the 5205, I can only find an owners manual, the install manual for the ERA-G320 is at Alpine.com Tech Support, you can also contact Alpine for Tech Support.
I could also not find any other Alpine DVD player with a brown/white lead although I did find the DVA-7996 and it has a white/brown remote in, but as far as I can remember when using the Ai-NET all the switching is done through it.
I would contact Alpine Tech Support and ask them for the best way to connect the 3 Alpine units together properly 94

You can get the owners and install manuals at http://www.alpine.com, for some reason the install manual for the DVA-5205 was not there although the owners manual was, you can find them all at Tech Support, they are a PDF, download. 94

It will have to go to a repair shop, but before you hook up another amp, get a multimeter and check all the speaker/speakers wires for shorts/low imp. 94
