Default Alpine: 7897 vs 9815

The 7897 represents the flagship product in Alpine's line last year, with its extra-large face and whatnot. The 9815 is the best product in Alpine's revised lineup; but they have not removed the 7897 from the market as it has not been replaced yet.

However both units cost the same amount of money today. Which one would you go for, and why?

Alpine 7897

Alpine 9815

Thanks,
Ben

both are great units.. in fact i owned a 7897 for a couple months before i got my alpine monitor.. the 7897 is nice cause of the phantom face i liked how it did that.. as for both products they do about the same stuff and both look good.. the 9815 is blue (while the 7897 is green and amber) the 9818 also plays wma files if you are into the cd burning sceen, you have about 22 hours of music on 1 cd comparted to mp3 files where you can only have 11 hours.. but who the hell is gonnna listen to the 22 hours of music or even 11 hours..

wait, does that phantom face detach or does it just fold in and stays in? i have the 9815 and i prefer the detachable face... i feel more secure... imo.

With just going with straight looks I would go for the 9815. The 7897 face just looks too big for me
