Don't have to imagine, I am an installer, have been for 30 years, after my post yesterday, I installed a Clifford 80xi [duel stage impact and prox.] we charge $120 basic $35 secure pac [lightflash/starter cut] the alarm is $249, he wanted hood and trunk pins, and something for his glovebox ,we would have charged him $60 , he though that was to much,[so we didn't do it , this was a rusted out MGB that he had just installed $2000 worth of Yokohamas wrapped around TSW rims.

Go figure. 94

I've gotta say, something like that is not umcommon for me to see either. I try to do my best in the time I'm allowed/expected in doing an alarm. Unless a customer pays for extra work involved in hiding a brain and all the wires extensively, I usually try to tuck the brain as high as reasonably possible and tape and hide the wires as well as possible too. Most people just don't understand what they need and most salesman don't either. But thats what happens when you take a bunch of college kids and give them jobs that they aren't trained to do.

Hey, it's not a matter of it being college kids, I've been doing car audio&security since I was 18 (I'm soon to be 21). If you work with people who care about the install and know what they are doing, you will learn the correct way to do things. The installer has to have the mentality that he's installing his own products into his own car. If you can think this way, everyjob job will be done right. But just because some one isn't 30 years old doesn't mean they can't do an excellent job as an installer. I've seen more than a few less than par older installers.

I didn't mean that a college kid installer can't do a good job because he's young. I'm young, 22, even though I don't feel it. I've been installing for 4 years now and I"m pretty good. I was referring to salesman, which happen to usually be college kids where I am located at, that are not trained or knowledgeable enough to sell car stereo equipment. I'm not saying you have to be a rocket scientist, but you can't sell someone a deck to go in an 04 Cadillac CTS and send them around to the install bay. You have to have knowledge and know when something works and what requires extensive labor. This is all stuff you can't learn in a days, week, month or even year's time.

My main point being is that it isn't always the isntallers fault or the salesman's fault its the company's fault for telling them they should sell and install stuff they aren't experienced enough to do.

If nobody read all that above then thats cool, but read this. GO TO SMALL SHOPS IF YOU WANT A BETTER CHANCE AT QUALITY WORK AND KNOWLEDGE FROM STAFFING. Spend time with the salesman asking a million questions. Go in there several times. Research the answers they give you. Find out if they know their ****.

What kind of car did you have stolen. I just purchased a1999 Honda civic SI. It has the Python alarm system, but when the seller gave me the owners manuals, He gave me a manual for a clifford alarm not the viper. I've also found out that the car was whaite and has been painted a dark blue. I think I might be getting scammed???

The alarm has a few EXT outputs that you will use to trip a relay for trunk ,armed output will trip the 529t to close SR an EXT to open, the DEI duelstage prox senser should plug into sensor 2 port.

All the DEI units will come with wireing instrutions.

hope this helps 94
