Default alarm for the older 3rd gen

the 3rd gen 1983-87 and even the 4th gen are known to be easy to break in - any key seems to be workable- so after the 86 was taken for a ride, no damage to the door lock nor the igntion lock, it seems that an alarm is the best way, yes for the club, but it does not prevent the ----- to open the doors, the hood and pick the battery -yes my battery and ignition wires were gone-

If you are out of the area when the car is found, it is another headache for your family or friend to retrieve your vehicle from the tow yard.

No electric fuel pump either to install a key remote switch off

Any good alarm will work, it will have inputs for the doors trunk/hatch and hood, [some may use the trunk/hatch and hood on the same input] either way both can be covered.
All alarms come with at least one sensor, [shock/motion] and inputs for more shock is a better bet, if installed and adjusted properly it can pick up a lug nut being cracked free but not trigger every time a Harley drives by, [it's all in the install and adjustment] the only other one I would want/have is a proximity [radar] sensor;
All will have an interrupt relay that can be used for starter interrupt or ign. kill, kill power or ground to ECU/ECM some are off board and other are onboard.

Adding at least one redundant, [stand alone] passive immobilizer should be installed, [latching relay works real good].

Hint --- stay away from cheap no name alarms, pay the little extra for a name brand one, there are lots of good ones out there
Hint #2 -- the install is the important part solder and shrink tube, no type of "quick" connectors should be used, in pretty much every connection that needs to be made to the cars wiring there will be a plug in the car harness that a terminal can be de-pined from and the alarm wire soldered to and the re-pined for a OEM look, clean and neat, easily removable and no cut wires. 94
