Default Adding SmartWindows 4

This question is aimed at installers...

Can I install just the DEI SmartWindows 4 without having it linked to any security system, jut the unit by itself and still have the window rolling functions?

When would you want the windows to roll up? When you lock the door with the key/OEM remote?

BTW, you need a different DEI module.....the 530T. The SW4 unit will only work with Clifford G4 and G5 systems. There's no external trigger input to tell the windows to roll-up/down. It all comes through the data link.

you are correct my friend

I will be installing my AG4 (probably, unless the AG5 has that many more advantages) in the next month, but I have some spare time to start putting other pieces in and making sure they work individually.

HondaDriver4Life - Are you an installer? Do you have AOL AIM?

Here's some info on the AG5. The rumor is that the US version will have 2-way capability.

Do you guys think its alright to mount the smart windows module in the drivers side door? You have access to all needed wires for hookup except a constant power. This way you only have to pull one wire through to the door rather than 8.

I have installed numerous modules in the doors for the same reason you stated. Just make sure the location will not be subjected to any kind of moisture. The middle to high section of the door is best.

I know that the integras have a little section made out of abs on the inner side of the door panel where I placed my crossover. I think I could relocate it and place the smart windows unit in there.

hey i'm a authorized dealer, first of all the ag4 is way better than the ag5, there's a lot more features. to me the g4 line is much better than the g5. now for your sw4 i think you should wait until you install the entire alarm system before you install it, unless you don't mind pushing the up/down button 10 tens to roll your window up or down, and if you don't run the wires to each door you lose the passenger side's one touch on the passenger switch, if you care. if you're gonna install the ag4 i recommend putting the alarm system under the driver seat, that way you don't have all that stuff near your fuse box and stuff. it's a much cleaner look. oh if you do put the sw4 in door make sure the data cable is long enough to reach the brain.
