Default 99 CX

So after I lost my whole system I'm looking to install an alarm. I have been reading most of wrx-killers post to kind of help me decide. I think i've decied on a clifford 50.7x w/ dei backup battery/prox sensor. Does anyone know if this works with the smart start system so you can use your iphone as the alarm remote? Kind of think thats neat. Also anyone have any bad experiences with this particular alarm? Thanks in advance guys.

yes it will work (they have a version for that).

Great product....just worry about ATT servers going down for maintenance -had a few blackouts.

Alarm is great.

a lot of the service issues with the Smart Start unit are with their server, and not AT&T. i've heard great things about the SS (Smart Start) Unit, but honestly i'd wait till they release the version with the GPS tracking service.

I was under the impression that the GPS tracking wasn't going to happen due to customer
perceived value (ie: people are cheap lol)....then again I wasn't at SEMA or Knowledgefest
(and my CES vacation request was denied yet again).

I always inform my customers that it (the phone) is a secondary remote with enormous range...and they should carry the main remote with them at all times.

the last DEI training i was in...like a couple months ago...it was kinda whispered that it was probably gonna be in the next version, to compete with the Drone. Chuck...is your last name Wallace??

also...i agree when talking about the remote as secondary. when the SS was released i asked if they were ever gonna do a SS and alarm brain only combo, was told NO, and then they released a version that is just that. after the service issues i've seen, they should have stuck to their guns.

Nope its Whitney. But our industry is VERY small lol.

Yeah that's a cool idea....maybe they will do the windows version as well (using any web connected device). Make sense considering...

Yeah I have learned that nothing is etched in stone....

i think autopage and the MobileIQ stuff are really the only ones that still use browser software. i know the SS is available on Blackberry, Android and iPhone, they will probably release a windows phone app, and that would probably be it.

as for the industry being small...i know what you mean. i ran into one of my vendors on a VW forum once and was like really?!?

If you wanna use your phone for your fob, the only beef i have with it is that there is prob about a 10 sec delay btwn a sent command from the phone, and the vehicle receiving it. Doesn't sound like a lot, but in real life, if its raining and you wanna unlock your doors, it feels like an eternity! Other than that, ive been dealing with SS for over a year and a half, and love it....
