Default Is 40lbs gonna make a difference?

I have a 98 GSR and the system i am going to put in it is going weight about 40lbs+ however much the fiberglass case for 2 subs is gonna weight. I know that added weight usually always has some adverse affect on the performance of a vehicle and i was just wondering if it would really affect the performance noticeably.

Go find something that weighs 40+ pounds and ride around with it. Do you notice a difference?

a good estimate is 50 - 100 lbs. adds about a tenth of a second depending on the car you are in....not real noticeable unless you take it to the track

It won't make a noticeable difference IMO.

If you feel slower acceleration it's psychological. If it makes you feel better you could take out your spare tire which you don't really need nowadays. What's 40 pounds compared to having a killer sound system

My sub box is mdf and has 1 12" in it. It weighs 60 lbs. Acceleration is a bit slower but it's a civic.
Take the spare out to make up for the weight you just added. And when you get a flat call home or have someone bring you the spare or some steelies to replace the flat tire.
