Default Ray's Black Coupe

Hello everyone! Finally a part of this great community, but owned Honda/Acura vehicles for some years now. I've recently acquired a '96 Civic Coupe Hx as a trade. I've always wanted to make a build thread but never had the right platform to do so, however, the Coupe is very clean & unmolested (aside from no name brand header & intake)

What I plan to achieve with this build is to make it aesthetically pleasing in my eyes & somewhat, "fast". A swap is always on my mind, but it is my daily, I work full time & have a daughter, so it's still gotta be fully functional with all the comfort amenities. (I love the MPG's I get with my Hx haha.

Anyway, on the to the pictures...

Enjoy!

The first day I picked it up!

The speaker cover is in the trunk, idk why it keeps falling off. Will address soon.

This is probably the only real issue on the coupe!

No name shift ****, short shifter

(Spoon Sports soon)

CEL due to o2 sensor, should be an easy fix.

Well, more updates/pics coming soon. This will be a slow but steady build, God bless.

So the first order of business was to change my 4x4, i looked around on CL anything local for coilovers & luckily I ran across someone selling some fairly new Raceland Coilovers on the low! They're not Tein, GC or anything fancy but for the price, I couldn't say no.

Here it is, the front sits a little too low so I need to find some time to raise it a little.

The rear sits just right!

Lowering the car is a great start. Cool that it came with fogs. The button is upside down though.

Thanks! I'm ordering some parts, saving some money for some wheels. I like oem over after market, so I'll probably be picking up different sets, Si's Gsr blades & Hx's.

Lol on the fog button, never realized it was upside down! Gotta change that ha

Pretty clean car!
Have you considered restoring the color on the side skirts?
IMO it would look ever better with them refurbished or painted.
Maybe paint the wheels gloss black till you get a set of wheels?
What's your mpg looking like?
I vote for the gsr blades

Thanks! Yes that's my plan, to restore them. I'm actually gonna rock some Ex/Si hubcaps I got for free from a local.

Nothing a little wash/fresh paint can't fix!

I'm sourcing out some mudguards.. Debating on wether I wanna get a 99-00 EM1 spoiler.

Thanks! The color came out pretty sweet haha..

As far as plans go, I'm gonna track this coupe. But gonna go with a Spoon Sports theme, just order a Spoon Sports shift **** to replace the current one. Next is a K-tuned Shifter.

I'm currently working out a deal with a local for a b20vtec full swap.. Let's see how that goes! (I know I said a swap was a distant dream but eh lol)

Feels like I haven't posted any new updates! Been busy with work, I get out late & don't have sunlight to work on the car, my weekends are spent with my family so sorry for the slow updates! However, I do have time to collect parts 😉 Haha

So I picked up some SE Integra wheels for the low, with some pretty new 205/50 Khumo Ecsta tires!

Picked up an EM1 stock strut bar... However, my hx chassis doesn't have the holes to bolt it on? Idk if I'm wrong but I don't see em! Thought it was it direct fit it being being from the same chassis.. Correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm a sucker for swirls...

Couldn't resist! The lips need attention as, but for $120? I couldn't say no.

Just some random shots... Enjoy!

damn 120 for blades. yeah only the si has the holes for the front strut bar. you just gotta drill them out yourself and use the si studs and bolts for it.

Yeah the front sits lower than the rear, I haven't had time to raise it up.. Literally have to work on it at night cause of my work/family keep me busy during the day & time off.

This is the result of being "low", my tires been rubbing like ****. Need to address asap!

Yeah $120! Dude was asking $200 but after seeing the condition of the lips/faces I just couldn't do his asking price, hit em with the $120 & took it.

Next project is to restore them, was thinking of hand polishing or sending them local to get done. A buddy of mine told me he knew someone who can polish the wheels for $40/per wheel. Might go that route.

As you can see, they're rough..

A little aircraft later....

I'm picking up an EM1 Spoiler this weekend, looking forward to that!

Bro i feel you on that. Any time i pop the hood on my civ my wife looks at me like its another woman lol. I remember in my 20's all projects were pushed to front and pedal to the metal til it was pounded out. Now i have to get clearance like a jet pilot haha. Its all good though. My 11yr old boy and 4yr old girl helped me install my shifter setup and nobody died lol. The struggle is the glory.

The EM1 strut bar will work - there are dimples where the holes are supposed to be. You need to get some hardware from the store to install it.

Clearance like a jet pilot! Hahahaha, my wife does the same damn thing.. She swears like I spend more time working on my car than with them! But my 3 year old loves it, she's always wanting to go on rides. It's women man, they just don't understand lol

Hey thanks! Yeah I know which dimples you're talking about, I saw them but wasn't quite sure if I should drill them out but now I know, thank you!
