Re: Project Nighthawk: 95 Integra 2dr Special Edition
while i was under there yesterday doing the rear brake likes i noticed that either most of the undercoat was coming off, or had been primered over during the paint job, and or just generally dirty, so i broke out the sand paper, the simple green, and the undercoat and decided to go to work.

ordered a bunch of detailing products, clay bar kit, etc, its already getting wrecked though just from driving it through the worst winter in 100 years, we have craters that could eat the entire car on our roads here in jersey, and the method of fixing it is they toss rocks in the holes and drive away. They were doing this on the highway a few weeks ago and then everyone started speeding up and i had asphalt rocks hitting my car doing 80mph. put a solid chip in the paint on the hood im gona have to fix, as well as other chips in the bumper. Im hesitant to even put this suspension on right now with the way the roads are.

Looking good...What kind of paint gun did you use to spray the car and from looking at the pics, it doesn't seem that you have a lot of orange peal, but I could be wrong since they're not up close pics

not sure what gun was used, paid one of the painters from a friends shop to shoot it in a booth since i didnt have access to one, we did all the body and prep work prior. Its definitely an expensive gun, there is some peel but nothing i cant take care of with wet sanding. We used Limco nighthawk black pearl base, it has twice the blue pearl in it as the factory color. We used diamonte clear on it, although i had the limco 4100 clear at hand but the painter felt more comfortable using the more expensive stuff.

You can have the paint shop add more or less of the blue into the night hawk black, my friend redid his front bumper and hood. they added way too much blue, it looked dark blue compared to black. nice job on the car, are you still sticking with the auto trans?

didnt go with the coilovers because theres just no need for them, i dont do "slammed" cars, so the coilovers would not benefit me in any way whatsoever. Ive never been a big fan of the way coilovers ride either, but that could be strictly because ive never driven them in a performance application. And since this car will never see real track time other then the occasional drag race at the local strip and maybe a solo run on the SCCA course, theres no reason to spent crazy amounts of money in that dept. The H&R oe sport springs give just enough drop to maintain the drivability of the car, get a mild performance improvement, and overall better look to the stance. The KYB GR-2 struts and the new control arms, bushings, ball joints and brakes will give me exactly what im looking for in terms of suspension/braking performance for a street driven car. As the car gets continually faster over time, i may need to make some minor changes in some areas, but it will be relatively small. And from what ive learned by reading in the suspension forum, theres really no need for camber kits or anything else like that for my application.

this is true, but this wasnt a custom color, its just the nature of the "budget" brand of basecoat we used, its a good paint, but most body shops would never use it to try to blend a factory color because of the differences.

suspension is going in with relative ease, only one of the lower control arm bolts are giving me a problem in the rear, had to overnight some parts from honda to get it back on the road.
still have lower control arms in the front, tie rods inner/outer, rack boots, and sway bushings and links, and i ahve to sand blast the bars and repaint them.

Havent updated this in a while, lot of things going on.
Came to find out the car wasnt painted right by this guy who was so highly recommended for the side work, paint started peeling off the car 2-3 months ago, worst of it is on the bumper, other places include the rear quarter, door, and roof. The body filler seems to be cracking under the trunk lid, i dont even know what happened there, but next spring the whole car will be getting stripped down again and repainted the CORRECT way.
supercharger and ported and polished head with the 3 angle valve job are going in on saturday....
new 5000k DDM apexcone raptor HID's and wired the fog lights in PROPERLY lol along with boost and a/f gauges using QP gauges prototype of the tan interior clock pod (can be found in the integra sub forum)
as she sits now
