Tonight was not a good night, but it could of been way worse.
i made a ROOKIE mistake, and didnt remember to switch the ls water pump to a gsr water pump, im not for sure if that is the problem but i cant think of any other reason, the car was ideling and i was messing with the distributer to get it to idel right and it droped real low in rpm's and backfired real loud, lucky i was in the car when the belt slipped and i got it turned off immediatly.
Here's what i found when i pulled the head off. No visual problems
and the valves, one valve on the #4 cylinder had a tiny nic in it. it is not bent though.
here's the difference in pullley size on the water pump, gsr is on the right, i was running the ls on the left.
let me know if this doesnt sound right to you, this is the first engine ive ever built and i went by the book on it.

Also, what oil pump were you running? I know the vtec (gsr/itr/b16) pump needs to be used and can spin bearings due to lack of lubrication. Might check on that while your in there. Cant wait to see it in person.

well i took apart the intake side of the head tonight, i checked all the valves puy shinning a flashlight threw the port and seeing if i could see light out the other end, and pn 2 of the valves you could, but it was a tiny tiny bit, u had to squent to see it almost, i cant visually see any kink or bend in any valve.

Finished putting the head together tonight, put timming belt ,distributer on then swapped the water pump, and the oil pump, should be running tommorow.
i still have to adjust my valves and get the timming on right.
Put some good stuff in the trans.

Got the engine started and running tonight, i have a couple vacume leaks and need some help figuring out were the hoses go. I searched and i couldnt find much on a GSR.
i dont know were the hoses go off these
