Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
update time:
I finished installing the intercooler. I drilled 2 holes into the bumper for the mounts on the IC, as far back as possible so I didnt have to cut any more of the bumper cover. I originaly was going to drill larger holes so the the IC mounts could raise up into the bumper, raising it like 3/4 of an inch.
The bumper isnt attached yet because I gotta tow her home soon.
cover on
and I dremeled off parts of the grill to fit the IC clean it up a bit
some other goodies
junk yard battery tie down:
after a little loven:
bleeder valve for coolant, yay!
next update will most likely be new (not edm) aux lights for the time being. Mine are cracked, broken, rust and fogged.
Ill also try to get the fuel pump and kill switch in the next one, if money is good.

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
small update:
-rewired aux lights power supply
-installed new aux lights
-re-attached bumper
-put on bleeder valve
got these to replace my old lights
old ones, they're cracked, faded, and over sprayed
I hate salty roads and rust
wire brushed and painted the supports to stop any more rust
on the car
bumper on
haha I might look at her too much, it seems like a huge difference to me
and I painted the support bar, looks a lot better

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
I rewired the auxilery lights so you dont need the headlights on. it was acutally realy easy
1) take the switches out and the bezel off
2) "T" the power supply of the defroster switch with some wire
3) and take the other end of the wire and replace it with the aux light switch power supply, cap off the unused end of the aux power supply(its not needed anymore
4) put it back togather
switches off
bezel off
power supply off the defroster switch (black with a yellowish strip)
new wire added
power supply of the aux switch (red with white strip)
reconnected with useless wire capped off
coming together
yay :D

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
well I finished the trunk lock, really easy took less than an hour. but I got one key now!
the lock is held in by one 10mm bolt, here it is
I got a extra lock from a junk yard. and I took the plates off to swap them around until the key turns in the cylinder
oiled up the plates and organized them by the numbers on them. the numbers correspond to offset. a higher number will stick out from the cylinder given the same key is used
old trunk lock with ignition key:
after I switched the plates around
theyre all flush
all back together and it turns
I also picked up the supplies for two different types of kill switchs, and I got some sweet spots picked out. Ill install those when I put in the fuel pump

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
and I got some new parts:
-Golden eagle vacuum manifold
-trunk release lever and cable
-license plate lights, I dont have them for some reason
teflon taped and apparently I have to drill out the plugs
trunk release. I need to change the lock, the level covers, and shorten the cable
and the harness needs some work
Ill try to get some work done tomorow

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
update time
I put the vac manifold in
first step:
drill out the plugs with a 1/4" drill bit
I drilled all six just in case. I can just plug the unused ones, its better than removing all this again if I have to drill it again
remove the wiper blades
bend them and pull them off the stud
pull out these 7 plugs CAREFULLY, I broke 3 of them really easily. then pry out the 2nd piece
remove these, I think there like 10 of them
just pinch the bottom and pry them out
close to the brake booster line, looks like a good place to mount it
13/64" holes
all mounted, the booster line kind of blocked the nipples so I cut it little shorter for room
3way 3/8" nylon connector
mostly done. Ill grab some vacuum line and hose clamps next time Im at the junk yard, lol no way its gonna stay looking like this
engine bay as of now
tomorow I only have to work in the morning so Ill remove the rear storage bins for the kill switch and prep for the fuel pump

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
I got the storage bins out today, took about 2 hours because I didnt know what I was doing
so heres a pic dump:
first take a seat out. Its not neaded but it will make it A LOT easier
next remove these 4 screw
theres 2 on each side in the same location
and 1 screw in the cup holder
pry it off with a flathead
I used the cloth so it doesnt scratch anything
disconnect the cigarette lighter
pull it off with the ebrake engaged
then roll down the back window and pry it off from the top
try to pry on both ends at the same time so it doesnt crack or anything
this wall looks brand new, hmm
then theres 2 screws holding on each speaker grill
pry it off when the screws are removed
lol missing a speaker too

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
theres 2 screws on each bottom side of the bins
and 2 in each bin
so 8 total holding the bins
pry it off
some more prying
all gone
heres the fuel pump. Im all good to go when it finally arrives..
lol huge tunk space, the bottom board is still in too
and you can run wires to the trunk with no drilling at all
thats it for the removal. I also cleaned up these stain on my bumper, I used 220 then 1000 grit sandpaper and simple green.
driver side done
and gotta have the wheel turned pic
next update will be:
-the oil lines and taping the oilpan
-fuel pump hopefully
-and Im gonna dremel out one of the cup holder holes so an arizona tea will fit! i love those

Re: my turbo del sol build thread and other stuff - with lots o pics
fuel pump time
I cringed when I opened it up, soo much rust
I had to chisel all the rust off then hammer a 10mm socket on the 6 main bolts
pump out
looks cool
new walbro 255lph on and old fuel pump next to it
yay for new bolts
