Head was sent out to the machine shop
I removed the Skunk 2 IM and cleaned it up a bit

Here is a pic of the spoon IM gasket, The coolant passage swelled up so i opened it up a bit. Im going to run a regular paper gasket just to make sure it doesnt leak any coolant

I am kinda weirded out a little bit by something. I didnt pay any attention when i removed the fuel rail but when i tried to install it back on i though the think round washers when under the fuel rail but when i did this the injectors didnt sit all the way down.

So i put the fuel rail on first, than the washers and the nuts on top, is this right????

The Block was dirty so i painted it, the GRS Studs came in today

thats what i thought but the injectors wont sit flush, i'll try tomorrow and take a pic so you know what i'm talking about..

UPDATE:
Head came back from the shop today. woot woot!

3 angle valve job, new valve seals, everything checked out ok!

Had to get the back timing belt cover cause i didnt have one before

Stripped the valve cover, I'm thinking of painting it gunmetal.

OK now another setback. I was going to drill and tap the right hole on the upper alt. bracked so i could install the knock sensor but the sensor is bigger than the bracket itself. Its a 93 b18a1 block and the alt bracket and k/s are from a obd1 b16 sir2 block. This swap is going into a 95 cx and thats why i used the b16 upper alt bracket.

Anyone with an lsvtec know what i can do? here is another pic

Couldn't you just grind off a little bit of the bracket? I'm sure it wouldn't compromise its structural integrity.

thats exactly what i was thinking. But now im kinda hesitant about installing the knock sensor there. The threads seems like they wont catch that much inside the block. hmmmm.....

Then you could grind the alt. mount thinner as well, but isn't there actually something on the back of the center of the block you could thread into that isn't being used?

if you look at the last pic with the k/s on top of the bracket, look right under the coolant pipe, thats the only hole i see on the block where i could put the sensor, but the whole is too big. I might just do what u said, grind the bracket til it gets a little thinner

I was going through all my junk stuff and i found the ls bracket i could of just used that but it was too late. Im sticking with the one i have now just because i did all that work.

LSVTEC kit wont be in until tuesday so my plans for having it tuned prob wont be till next week.

Kit wont be here till tomorrow so i decided to paint the valve cover and the spark plugs cover. I was going to do gunmetal but i had left over Flamenco Black Pri Metallic paint i had order online to paint my other civic sideskirts so i decided to use that. I painted the spark plug cover graphite. Hope the piant can handle the heat

i was messing with my camera and lighting and came up with this

Thanx.

Installed the head today. I got the full race lsvtec kit and the dowel pins that come with the kit are way too loose. I know i could of gotten the golden eagle dowel pins but i just modified the full race dowel pins. Instead of putting the dowel pins on the exhaust side i put them on the intake side. The fat part of the dowel pin went on the block and the skinny part went on the head. The dowel pins were still a little loose so i just wrapped both sides with teflon tape and put them back on, this made them snug. I made sure to scrape all the extra teflon tape so it would not interfere with the headgasket. The head went in just fine, it didnt move at all and it seemed to line up perfectly. Hope this doesnt come back and bite me in the ***... I'll take some pics tomorrow as i still have to install the oil line and IM. Im hoping this weekend motor will be installed

Nice paint job on the valve cover . I painted mine too but im starting to think white wasn't such a great color to paint a valve cover because of oil and carbon residue build up.

Yeah i got a Fullrace LS vtec kit for mine too and one of the dowels fit fine, while the other was way too tight so i had to grind the surface down slightly to make it fit. Poor quality on the dowel tolerances but the rest of the kit was OK.

Did you get a size -6 AN oil line in yours?
