Re: The Great White North: A Honda Beat story
LOk so the plan was to take some pics for this thread today but its raining... soyou guys are just getting whats in the old photobank... sorry
Got the first recaro fitted no problem... Took some tinkering and is as toght as OJ's glove, but its in there. Problem is whilst measuring to see what could be fit in there I never measured the passenger up. Driverside was a solid 21 inches across, just just enough for a stock dc2 recaro. I never thought the passenger could be as small as it was, only 19 inches across. New brackets are currently being fabbed up to make the seat slimmer.
Here is pics.
New steering wheel... 330 mm momo. Cant decide on which one to use. This or the 330 mm personal
Also not sure if I'll paint and install these fender flares. I bid super low on an auction in japan and won.
She loves sitting in "daddy car"

Nice car. At first i must say i'm not a huge fan of the car, but with the body parts you put on it, it looks really good.
I will follow that cute little car.
In Japan, they name that class of car "kei cars" if i'm correct.

Re: The Great White North: A Honda Beat story
Sorry...
Been busy with life, kids, and the recent weather we have had here in Calgary. The floods were/are absolutely nuts.
Have not done too much to the car. Installed the passenger recaro. Pretty much needed a shoehorn to get it in.
Also won a backyard special 'autocross' style roll bar (will do nothing if roll)
And some fancy pants carbon fibre inserts
Also, made a set of clear sidemarkers as well
Here are a couple pics as well as one of the recent floods here in Calgary
The way we had to do the passenger side seat required it to be welded together in a fixed recline. I am going to have to shim up the seat a little when I get a chance.
I'm also planning on taking a shitty iphone video so you can hear what the car sounds like. It is ridiculously loud, but small and fun to drive.
Sorry for the delay. My next project is to do some carbon fibre skinning then I will likely sell it and move onto another project. If anyone is legit interested, it is USA registerable.
Just send me a msg

Re: The Great White North: A Honda Beat story
Well, after what seems like the longest winter ever, it seems that we might be getting a little bit of springtime now!
Took an hour away from the kids this afternoon to install a couple new things on the beat.
First off, Gathers Sky Sound Honda Beat 20th anniversary audio center. Ever since I got the beat I have been baffled as to what to do with the audio. The OEM unit is not a single din, or a double din, it tapers from just over the width of a single din, to just under. I probably would have left it stock, but the previous owner had removed the oem radio elecctronics, and just left the faceplate. He then removed one of the very few storages in the beat (a small glove box) and installed a 15 year old alpine deck.
This is how it looked before (pic from last season)
You can just make out the deck in the front left passenger footwell. Cumbersome to change radio with a passenger.
This is what it was replaced with
THe new gathers unit offers ipod/iphone music and video playing, an input for a rearview camera, fm radio up to 90.0 (yeah) music and video selection integrated through the head unit. It also offered a factory harness conversion and a great set of intructions on install.
Continued in next post.

Re: The Great White North: A Honda Beat story
Snow is gone.... Couple pics from end of last year
Been ages and ages since I've updated...
Beats been packed away since last year, just got her out and had a few things to go over, and a couple things to fix up.
First off I'll throw out some pics from last fall that Corey from Illmotion took... hope he doesnt mind me posting...
Plans for this year.
Already ordered Backyard special front lip (so I can go a bit lower). smaller tires for the rear for lower, New upgraded ECU, Full Roll cage.
Other plans not ordered, maybe a sub, some more suspension stuff to stiffen it up, Possibly air cups for the coils.

Nice! This is my favorite honda. I'm still on the hunt to purchase one. No luck though. One did sell in the USA about 6 months ago. I forgot what state but I was a bit late on finding it that he sold it.
