Genes RE-Build Thread..
so this isnt a real build thread i guess, im just trying to rebuild at this point.
its not going to be an amazing one, no magazine status, super fast, super flashy, eibach quality here.. its just the build of MY perfect daily beater.
so my original hatch. first car, i loved it, worked on her daily, and drove her at least 100miles a day.

and then disaster struck, right into me.. in the form of a 93' integra.

I waited about a month for insurance to finally find out the guy was uninsured and give me my hatch back so i could strip her down.

they cut me a small check and so then the hunt for the perfect donor was underway. I searched day and night, looked at probably 30 hatches until I received an email in reply to my WTB post on the classifieds.
"we were going to build this as a Sport FWD project but we no longer have the time and money to put on the project.
h22 motor and trans not included. Anyways, i'll let the pics do the talking...make me an offer....
any questions, just let me know.
Jon
"
The shell was flawless, so i arranged a pick up time for the following week when i could rent a trailer.
took it straight to the body shop and started on that, had some issues, took about 6months from the crash until this point.. the car's making its return to my garage Friday 2/25/2011 as it is now, the garage is full of junk..

Hopefully with some help from my junior mechanic I can get it all back on the road soon.

This is going to be a very slow process, but i really just wanted to have a timeline of my build because I had never got to with my last hatch.
Comments, Questions, Concerns, Opinions are all welcomed also.. im not going to call you a hater because you dont like my choice in wheels, motor, color, etc..
Thanks for looking,
Steve.
to all my friends who have helped me out so far on this adventure, thank you.

Thanks, I've been looking through your build lately to get inspired to start mine up, the colors on the motor/car look crazy but all compliment each other well when you put it together.
Thanks Good Luck on yours also.
i dont think i've ever had SiR headlamps but thanks anyway!

im guessing the truNk? nope, it's still collecting dust in my friends room.
THANKS for the support everyone. I decided to start it off right with some Lemonade and chicken

picked up a few cans of paint at O'Reilly's (super taxing price too) and I'm just cleaning Everything up.. super random photos, no point in them really just figured they're a requirement of an acceptable build thread.

After & Before

Tomorrow's agenda is pick up the car and hopefully start on my favorite thing.. WIRING! no really, I'm serious.

look at the dedication during my last wire tuck in the cold *** weather. not cold to most of your standards, but lets not forget i'm from california im used to sunshine and 70+ degrees at all times.

Preview of the Color.

I can't even capture how beautiful it is with my rook camera skills.
I'll try and have my photographer friend drop by for a guest appearance later this week.

its purple.

this one I took without the flash.

Thanks.
didn't get anything done today, Tomorrow morning.. JUNKYARD RUN! woooo, because for some reason, out of all the boxes of parts i have, im missing bolts and hinges and latches and ugh..
This part isn't new but i found the pictures while going through my harddrive. I didnt want to loop my rack, so i cut the dividing piston out. at that time i also replaced the pinion with one from an integra because it lowers the ltl ratio since it has an extra tooth.
maybe someone will find these photos usefull to do the same or get an idea of how the power rack works and why a breather is necessary if you go the looping route.

you can see where the piston gets cut off from here.

if you dont drill into the rack before removing the end bolt it will tear up the thread like so

96-00 Civic Power Rack Pinion vs. 94-01 Integra Pinion

thanks.
haven't had time to update.. just been working on everything slowly. I've not been stopping to take pictures as much as I'd like but oh well.
Here's where I'm at so far with the build.
rear interior panels in, new fuel tank up, muffler up, passenger suspension up and torque'd
rear half is pretty much Finished once i get the Driverside Trailing arm up.. just been avoiding having to clean it.

Put the hardlines in the engine bay, Dropped and Cleaned/Painted the Subframe.

Just to try and show the color
Flash

No Flash

No Flash/slow Shutter

Rear Seats, Carpet, all wires From the Floor HArness back are done, I starting working on the Headlamp harness and underdash harness.

Mounted a Light to get the lengths on the harness correct and I wanted to see what it would look like.

How I left her last night

Need to go to the junkyard to fix the passenger door handle, it was damaged.. also re-stock up on clips and whatnot

this drawer is almost empty now.. Need to go place an Order At Honda in Cerritos Soon too.
Few Pictures of what I've got going on with it today/right now.
Driverside Wiring is DONE

first time i've looked at the color in the sun. :D I like it.

Worked on the drivers trailing arm finally.

up..

Front LCA's up and finsihed cleaning everything up front.

now time to clean up the Front Knuckles and mount them on the car. (Guy i got them from.. put on one rotor/pad because he "only needed the one")

one last shot of the color.

Thanks for the support!
