Started a mini wire tuck, very easy on EK civics. I might keep going with it, but I might be satisfied with just this after I loop the power steering lines

lookin nice man
you in california?
if you are, please let me know how much this swap is costing you and what you had to do to get it BAR'd please
I've been looking into just a LS (B18B1) swap in an EK just due to the simplicity of the swap and the fact it will pass smog no problem

Nope. I live Connecticut. Our emissions aren't the easiest to pass either, but I'm hoping that running the car on the usdm obd2 h22a ecu will work. I bought the motor from a friend for like $500 back in the day, and it came in a cardboard box in a million pieces. Before I can make anymore real progress I need to tear apart my h2b eg civic for the transmission, intake manifold, sensors, exhaust, and h2b kit. So for me this is a cheap swap, I just need to do twice the work and with my knee how it is right now, it will take longer than I planned.

If I didn't already have everything that I do, I'd imagine it being a lot of dough though.

Sir-t F20b....................... $1200 shipped from hmotors
QSD h2b kit...................... $700 (if I remember correctly)
Mounts..............................$150 (knock offs)
ECU and wiring................ $200
Gsr tranny........................ $300

After all the bigger pieces, there's probably another $1000 in random stuff you'll need like oil, coolant, tranny oil, hoses, wiring stuff, clamps, random tools, axles.... you get the idea. Overall I'd guess like $3500? I'm just realizing now how lucky I am to have all the parts I need lol

End of the road.
Today was probably the last time I'll drive my h2b EG civic. This car was absolutely amazing.

Skunk2 coilovers were the first to come out for the EK build

Tomorrow I'm hoping to take the transmission, intake manifold, h2b kit, clutch, fuel rail and sensors for the EK. I think I'm going to use the EG's skunk2 coilovers all around but I heard the rears may need some modifying. Also does anyone know if EG and EK fuel pumps are interchangeable? I'd like to use the walboro pump from the EG if they are.

Does the H series from your EG have any serious issues? is it for sale? is it USDM?

Not sure what im going to do with it yet. And its a jdm h22a from hmotorsonline. As of right now im stripping it of random parts I need to get the f20b running, but trying to keep all the internals untouched.

Got a little bit more done this weekend. Wired up an obd1 harness for the alternator, swapped my EG skunk2 coilovers to the EK, pulled the EK exhaust and shift linkages out, picked up a new throw out bearing and pilot bearing for the clutch, wire brushed and painted the gsr transmission. There are fewer and fewer things to do until the headgasket comes in and im losing patience waiting for it. Only took pics of the transmission work but it came out ok.

Well i got the clutch on the motor, the h2b kit on the motor, then the gsr transmission on the motor. I'm STILL waiting for the headgasket from hmotorsonline. Going on 2 weeks since i paid for it. The EG exhaust needs some welding, but most of all im dreading grinding down the F20b to make the axles fit.

At this point i guess I'll try to get the motor/transmission in the car and bolt up the head with it in the engine bay, but a lot more little things need to get done first. Updates later

Only pic from today:

I will be doing this same swap, but into a DA chassis. Does grinding down the block there compromise the oil pan in any way? The oil pan bolts? So, if that cv joint grenades it doesn't look good for the block, but I suppose if that cv joint grenades on a regular (no hybrid) b series swap you'd be in the same boat?

ehhhh kind of. You need to grind the block, check axle fitment, grind, check, grind, check....

this way you're taking off as little as possible, but yeah it does take off some oil pan, and you need to grind a bit of metal off one or two of the bolt heads that hold the oil pan on. This being an F20b, there is no oil pan gasket, so I LOADED the oil pan with oem hondabond. I will say though that grinding this motor came out better than the first time I did an h2b on my EG hatch, and that ran for about 40k miles no problems/leaks.

And usually when the cv joint on the intermediate shaft goes, it just cracks and isn't all that violent.

I see. Have you seen or used the QSD Moroso Oil Pan (QSD Designed Moroso Pans)? I was thinking of going that route... $$$

I've def thought about it, but I always try to stick to oem as much as possible. One of the parts that came with the motor was a brand new oem oil pan so I grinded the block with the beat one, then used a bench grinder on the new one so it wouldn't bend away from the block. I probably should have taken pics of that whole process.

As of right now I'll be using a usdm obd2 h22 ecu for emissions. Jdm won't work with our emissions computers. Im hard wiring 2 o2 sensors in the exhaust for emissions also because my phearable obd1 has o2 sensor deletes, and wont do anything when I'm running obd1.

Only other thing I can think of is using an obd2 throttle body for emissions because obd2 has a 3 wire harness going to the FITV, and obd1 FITV uses no wires.

I still need to order an obd2b to obd2a conversion harness for that ecu, and it may have a vehicle disabler I'd need to bypass. A lot to keep track of...
