Got it started last night. Looks like my Walbro has gone bad from sitting :/

I swapped in an EK fuel pump and it fired right up.

I'm not sure whether i should buy another Walbro, or go a different brand seeing as this one only lasted a couple of years. Will probably order something tonight/tomorrow.

So i ended up buying a Deatschwerks pump, installed it and it lives. Drove it out of the garage for the first time in 2.5 years haha. Gave it a wash while it was out.

Dropping it off to get tuned next Wednesday... Still doing little bits and pieces to get it ready, filled the aftercooler system last night, and what a PITA. Really should have used an inline reservoir to help bleed the system, also in hindsight probably should have routed the piping a bit different to help with bleeding too. Should've really thought about it a bit harder when piecing it together... Hindsight aye.

Had to turn this T piece up to help bleed some of the air out of one of the high points.

I don't think i can be bothered tbh, haha. And i've already spent so much money on bloody hoses after changing my mind originally when going clear. I think if i was going to bother to make the change, i'd buy a reservoir and do it entirely different.

Future Steve's problem.

Thanks guys,

So took it to get its run in tune last Wednesday. On the back of the tow truck:

We got it idling properly and found the throttle was sticking open slightly, and the auxiliary functions i'd wired to Hondata (AUX1 and AUX2) both weren't generating a signal, which meant my heat exchanger fan wasn't turning on. I did some quick wiring changes, got it to trigger off the radiator fan relay instead of Hondata and got it working. Anyone know how to set the AUX functions on Hondata? I can't get them to work for the life of me.

Anyway, got to the dyno:

It made ok power, like 35hp more than last time i had it on there. We didn't play with the cam timing at all this time around, so hoping to squeeze some more ponies out with some fine tuning. Drove it home ok with no dramas. The mishimoto fan that i bought is absolutely useless, would not recommend to anyone. The tiny SPAL fan i have on my heat exchanger on the other hand is incredible. Will be replacing my mishimoto one with this one in the future.

Pulled my throttle body off to see what was up and notice that the coolant ports on the bottom actually didn't do anything, so blocked those off and bought some longer hose to bypass it:

Also removed the TPS and would the spring another half turn so it would have more closing force.

I put it back together and found now that when you jumped off the throttle too quick the throttle plate would jam closed. So i adjusted the throttle stop a bit and that seemed to fix that problem. I took it for a drive and it seemed to fix it completely, but after half hour or so the revs started to hang a little at a stop at the lights.... So i've still got some fine tuning to get that right which is a bit annoying. It's not too bad though.

Here's some pics that i stopped and took while i was out and about:

My headers also sit super close to my bonnet, I've got some gold reflekta tape on there at the moment, but it still gets hot AF. So i think i need to figure out a way to bring the temps down if i want to keep my paint, haha. I'll start by getting them ceramic coated, and then reassess.

Might have to report those last photos for pornography content.. haha, mate she looks gorgeous, so bloody clean, everything lines up shmick. Im jealous!

Sucks you had the problem with the throttle body but atleast you sorted it. Also is it like rev hunting at the lights when idling? Mines started doing it for the past few months, no idea why, me being lazy I'm not bothered to fix lol

Don't look too hard haha.

I think it's just hanging, i don't think it's hunting. Maybe my throttle cable is a bit tight. Problem is though, that i slacken the cable, and then i can't get my TPS adjusted to read 100%, frustrating.

Hmmm.. yeh maybe try slacken it to see if that helps it. Maybe the TB is still getting stuck open when heated up?

This thread should be marked NSFW, pants grew tight reading the last update!

That makes 3 of us with idle issues haha. After installing my lightened flywheel and clutch the idle is higher now, idle screw wound all the way in and it still hangs around 900 rpms.

Some of the aftermarket throttle bodies can be a bit of a hit and miss, hopefully you can sort out the issue.

Yeah probably. I'll have to play around with it some more.

Bugger! Do you like how it drives though? You're running the same clutch/flywheel combo as me now hey?

Yep have the same clutch and flywheel I believe. TBH I didn't notice any difference with the lightened flywheel, but then again I've barely driven the car.

The clutch is a lot more grippy than expected, will take some getting used to. It's nice to drive once you get used to it, the pedal is definitely a lot heaver than before as well. I'm hoping it feels better to drive once the clutch is fully bedded in.

Yeah, i thought the same thing.

Cheers.

So Australia had the day off yesterday, and i'd planned to fix a couple of niggly things. But when i opened up the garage i noticed a coolant puddle on the floor and found this:

Kinda difficult to see, but coolant was pissing out from between the cast part of the IACV and the base where the hoses attach to. Zzz.

This is probably why:

Rank AF. Luckily i had a spare. But after tidying it up i realise this (see mount locations):

Bloody Honda. So i repaired the old IACV with gasket maker, went to install it and realised this:

I could've used either because both mount locations are drilled and tapped lol. Anyway, i haven't installed it yet.. I need to wait 24 hours for the gasket maker to set properly.

I also found on my throttle body, when i flipped the TPS i hadn't preloaded the TPS spring (only the throttle cable return spring). So i'm hoping that the low return pressure was causing my idle hang.

I'm going to a car meet on Friday if i can get my **** together, so i'll get to test it out then.

Also, 13,000th post! Zing.

So my IACV repair seems to be holding up.

On Friday this came in the mail:

Spare rear diff, i'm planning on installing an LSD into it ala INTRAC.

That's the LSD i plan on using, visually it looks like it's going to work. One side is offset slightly different, hopefully there's enough slip in that sides inner CV to take up the difference. Also the fasteners for the crown gear look like they might foul the housing after they're installed. We'll see how it goes.

Also started tidying up the manual steering rack:

Potato photo, but the subframe came up nice with just a clean, so i'm not going to worry about painting it:

Also went for a burn and took some pics:

So my header sits close to my bonnet. I put some reflekta tape on the underside which does a pretty good job, and god my header ceramic coated (got it back yesterday) looks sick! Only potato photos atm:
