Default Build Thread - Appearance THEN Performance.

After driving around my 2001 Mitsubishi Galant from 10th grade until Highschool Graduation I decided I was ready to move on. Searching craigslist day and night, I finally stumbled upon a 1995 Civic coupe for $1800! Hopped in the car and went to take a look.

Here she sat:

Upon further inspection. No driver side side skirt, rip on the front driver's seat, HORRIBLY dirty carpet, no air intake, non functioning reverse lights, no battery tie-down, couple of lugs missing, and cracked dome light.

The car was in overall great shape and drove like a dream.

I bought the car in mid december and soon after I went out of town to see family in Georgia. I came back to smashed windows. Glass was EVERYWHERE. I thought this was my first run in with Honda Thieves but apparently the suspect had already been caught. Turn out to be a drug addict from a nearby trailer park who broke into nearly 15 cars in my complex while on a massive high. Great luck right?

After shelling out over $300 in repairs I was ready to get started.

First order of business was to order an ebay air intake (on a budget), get a battery tie down from a friend, shampoo the carpet and seats, new windshield wipers, and fixed the reverse light wiring. Once I got the easy stuff down, I found a clean set of rota slips with brand new tires on Craigslist for $450. Here is how she then sat.

Next move was to get Tokico Blues and some coilover sleeves from a local shop "ESR Performance". The sleeves were labeled "DNA Motoring". Eventually they'll be replaced with Ground Controls but for now these will do.

Finally I got a small chunk on money and i was able to improve the looks. Picked up a set of gold deep dish OG axis 15x8 rims wrapped with N3000 195/45/15 tires for $750 and integra seats for $80. Then ordered a mugen front lip, rear window visor, ek front mud flaps, eg rear mud flaps, and ek side skirts. I struggled with the color of my tow hook. Gold or silver?? I decided on silver in the end. Here she is today.

I haven't done much of anything as far as performance. Still the stock D16z6. I'm not totally Looks over Speed, so expect updates. I don't have the biggest budget but I'm thinking of swapping in a b20vtec (possibly b16 head) and GSR tranny. Right now I'm pretty mechanically useless, but I plan to do a lot of reading and research here on the forums to really learn about the engines/swaps/etc.

Thanks for reading

Thanks! I've been reading alot about swaps lately. Still have a lot to learn though, but I have plenty of time. Who knows how long it will take me to save up
