Another Blue CRX Build

Another Blue CRX Build
I have had a few people ask me to start a build thread on my current build. I was forced to start a new build due to the fact that my 90 white CRX was totally roached. It is known to rain at times in Florida. If I wanted to take a shower during a normal 2pm thunderstorm, all I had do was take a drive in my rex. It was so bad that rust rained down from the hatch hinges every bump and closing of the doors. Dave Green, in Rockledge FL got on the phone to a friend of his. Dave has a small thing going on the side for himself, becoming a 4 cyl motor building legend in Central Florida. The engine in the white CRX is Green Built and freaking tight. Anyway, spend 2K on body work, buy a craigslist car for the body, or just sell the current engine and scrap driving a CRX. Back to the phone call Dave made. I met a great local man who had a chassis for sale to someone who enjoyed the CRX model and would take care of the chassis he was selling. We made a deal. Now starts the build.

in the first 3 pics you can see the rust holes and duct tape around the rear hatch. I would be spendy to repair all the body rot. The second pic is the Green Built D16 with 10 psi boost, again tight. I love lighting up the new Camao RS and Dodge Charger RT's around town. Fun stuff. Thank you again Dave. ps. I took a Mustang GT 500 with this motor also. He must of not know how to drive his ride. The third pic is the annual CRX meet at Old Town in Kissimmee FL. Now that I purchased the Blue CRX, I need a full suspension to get it rolling so it can get to my house.....

Re: Another Blue CRX Build
I found an INCREDIBLE DEAL on a 91 SI ! Dilemma time. A couple of weeks before I purchased the blue chassis. OK I will take what I need from the SI and get the blue chassis to my house as planned.
wOw CoilOvers
wOw, strut tower braces front and rear. Plus miscellaneous BURIED treasures
the sheet metal is straight and rusting.
I was able to salvage the subframes with D Series mount, front and rear suspensions, dash, doors, rear hatch. I also cut the tunnel where the ebrake and shifting linkage mount to weld back into the blue CRX. Mike came to my bar and asked if I was done with the CarDaver. That means it is bugging him. I said, ya. He hauled it to a local scrappy and received 50 bucks for the CarDaver Chassis. I freaked because I had not cut out the D series engine mount off the passenger frame. I then realized I knew where there was another, oh yes, and it will be mine....

The blue CRX rebuild notes.
Today I removed the steering column, got wires to the engine compartment and lights through the firewall. I also ran the fuel lines from the tank location to the firewall location. I am eliminating the vent line to the engine compartment. I removed the Walbro gss341 for inspection as well as the sending unit from the fuel tank and reinstalled them. I hope to have the fuel tank in tomorrow.

Wow, it has been over a month since a post. End of the fiscal year at work is over, holidays over, illness over, vacation in Minnesota over. Time to get back to the car. Pics coming later today or tomorrow. Got the wiring harness back in the cabin. Got the sub dash vent, climate control and fan back in for fit to locate a brake line tuck. Removed the fuel tank vent tubing from the cabin and capped the vent nipple on the tank. I made sure to put a small hole in the vent cap so the tank does not collapse. I just removed the rear control arms due to the fact that the all the bolts were not fastened when I transported the car to my house. While out, I wire brushed them hit them with brake clean and painted them gloss black to make Dave Green proud. Time to reinstall them and then replace the K motor subframe with a SI subframe.

2 years, 11 months, 2 weeks later. The white car filled with cancer was cut up, tossed in the back of my p/u truck and brought to the scrapper. Blue car out of storage a week ago
and back at my house. Time to continue on.
