Icon6 90ED6LSV's ED6 Build Thread

i dont think I ever made a build thread for my car! so here it is, the first part of this is all old pictures/info... i've come a long way with the car and kind of going back to simple and clean roots....

-------old pics/posts---------

Anyways, the car had aLS/VTEC swap, B18A1 block, JDM B16A head, JDM B16A tranny. Completely stock internals, ran 14.5 @ 98mph with 185/50/14's.

So it came time to teardown the motor.... It's really COMPLETELY stock block. Previous builder didn't even replace bearings, rod bolts or anything that is necessary for an LS/VTEC! I'm sitting here amazed that my stock motor was so quick...

Old *** picture, I grew out of the bike rack stage in less than a week.....

Test fit RacingHart TypeC's! Badass (also old)

Pretty old engine bay picture

Month old picture, when my driver-side mount bolts broke in my engine

Most recent pictures of my car, have made many changes to it since, but haven't had a chance to snap some pics....

------------old pics/posts--------------

Yes the engine came out of a ricer EG! orange valve cover, red manifold and all haha

Oh, and I i did a custom DIY engine bay shave, and the repainted it again

KSport camber kit

swapped to a polised B20 valve cover; still need to get rid of this red manifold lolz!

Put on these unknown brand wheels; probably Rotas....

And then VX wheels

Oh yeah got a new exhaust installed, twin tip style.....

then installed a JDM GSR B18C with a hydro B16 tranny using Hasport billet hydro conversion...

---------got the car dyno'd-----

alright heres my dyno graphs. the graph with the blue lines is the 1st baseline pull with the phearable.net basemap. as you can see by the A/F ratios that ish was running funky mid-range. so he offered to tune it, and we gained a considerable amount of low-end and mid-range power! the graph with blue and red lines is one of the final runs. after that pull we let it cool for a little and pulled 179/135...

ALL COMPLETELY STOCK INTERNALS B18C JDM GSR and stock GSR intake manifold with a hand-port/polish. Only mods are a home-made stepped-piping
short-ram-intake and eBay replica tri-y header. oil is nearing change and spark plugs also, spark plug wires & distributor are stock from japan.

blue line is new hp, red is baseline. see how it dipped off and came back up, the new tune carries the powerband smooth all the way to redline

a few pictures after I got home from the Eibach meet

---------went to the track---------

yup well i should do bracket racing hahaha. dragstrip results:
1st pass: 13.829 @100.99mph /w 2.120 60ft - clutch cable needed adjusting, it would slip when I shifted gears!
2nd pass 13.935 @ 100.84mph /w 2.225 60ft
3rd pass 13.853 @ 100.75mph /w 2.183 60ft
4th pass 13.833 @ 101.15mph /w 2.177 60ft
5th pass 13.948 @ 100.73mph /w 2.246 60ft

6th pass 13.769 @ 101.29mph /w 2.189 60ft - fastest run

car stats:
car was gutted, only took out front passenger and rear seats (guesstimated ~2300lbs with 130lb driver), took off exhaust system (open header), had a custom cold/ram-air intake (took out headlight) eBay tri-y header, chipped P28 /w dyno tune; ASP2 in Fresno,CA!!!; (180whp/135wtq). Suspension is tokico shocks with eBay springs, wheels/tires are 13in VX wheels with 22x8 goodyear eagle street slicks (front) & 88-89 crx si wheels (rear)

do it! a properly set up LS/V is one of the best engines out there IMO, huge torque advantage over a b16! as long as it's a healthy engine you can be pretty darn fast... My old ls/v was damn quick for 100% stock, i used to blow away built engine hatches....

i'm doing ls/v just for simplicity and cost effectiveness, and the extra displacement will help spool a turbo quicker...

thanks, she's FAR from ever being done, still a lot of work to do... but some day i'll enjoy her with all the parts and hard work i;ve put in... the car is coming up on the 3-year anniversary mark! can't believe i've had it for this long already! (and barely have much done to it LOL!) i used to work at McDonalds so I was always on a super tight budget, and been out of work for the past 8months now, so the build has slowed down very considerably lol

oh I am doing it for sure.
but i recently made the move from california to boise, idaho;
to attend school.
i swapped in my LS literally 2 days before i drove the 960 miles.
its a great motor.
i plan on rebuilding the bottom end and keeping a stock head.
its a daily driver, I dont want anything too crazy, and hopefully ill be able to BAR the car eventually.

ls/v in an ef is ridiculous. just an LS is pretty nice.

hopefully during spring break, I can get everything ordered and put together when i drive back home.

wow only 2 days before a trip?? i wouldn't do that lol! But FYI, it's impossible to BAR the car with a ls/v so the only way to do it properly is get a b16 or gsr, unless you BAR the car with just the LS and then after the BAR, then you convert to ls/v...

sounds like you've got a good realistic plan though, good luck man!
