1991 Civic Si - Picture Collection
I bought this Civic in December of 2015, this thread will be a journey of photos to show it's progression over time.
I spotted this beauty about two years ago in a Costco parking lot (Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada). I went up to admire it and as luck would have it the owners were just coming out of the store with their groceries. I explained myself and complimented them on such a beautiful car. They showed me the whole car top to bottom...spotless. They even let me sit inside. They were exceptionally friendly folks. I gave them my phone number on a little scrap of paper and told them to call me if they ever decide to sell it. I had zero expectation of ever hearing from them again.
2 years later... they called me. I had first dibs. A couple months of back and forth, a few test drives and we struck a fair deal.
It's a single owner car, never once winter driven. It's never seen salt and I'd be surprised if it was ever driven in the rain. Always garage stored, out of the elements and out of the sun. The lovely women who had driven it all these years used it as a grocery getter, and probably hadn't taken it on the highway in ages.
I can't express how unbelievably clean this car is. It's a Unicorn for sure.
Questions and comments are welcome. Please enjoy!

I edited my first post with a little back story. If you're serious about buying it, send me a PM and I'll write down your phone number and put it on the list.

That's awesome! Right place at the right time!
I had someone leave a note on my DB2 asking to call them if I ever decide to sell. Unfortunately I'm not letting my gem go.
Are you planning on leaving it stock?

One of the front license plate nuts fell into the bumper, so I had to pull the whole thing off to get to it and reattach it. The nuts have little bent-in fingers that grip plastic nubs on the backside of the bumper cover, I used some adhesive to ensure this doesn't happen again.

I like the oem single bend shifter in the Civic but it does leave something to be desired with the ridiculous tractor throw of each shift. I lengthened the shifter below the pivot ball to shorten the throws a bit. I modeled the length off a dual-bend Integra shifter I had, which I feel is a nice compromise while still feeling like a stock setup. I believe the difference was about 8 or 9mm.
I also replaced the crucial shifter bushings and rubber mounts with new oem. I repaired the flex link at the transmission end with a new stainless bolt and nylon nut to remove most of the slop.

Then I pulled the motor.
It's getting new seals and gaskets all around, a new timing belt and of course a thinner mls headgasket. Everything is coming apart to get scrubbed along the way as well.

Cleaning the bay is much easier when the motor is out.
I used a degreaser from the dollar store and a few brushes. The best brush was a hand sweeper with long soft bristles. The bristles can flex around things and softly scrub the paint without causing any damage.
The degreaser is $1.25 for just under a litre of the stuff and it's incredible. It will remove just about anything with very little effort. Letting it sit on the grime for a minute or two really helps, it practically rinses the crud right off.
