what else can i do to make my b16a faster?
hey HT... i have a 98 EK coupe with a b16a SIRII swap. these are my current mods:
AEM intake
HKS hi-power exhaust
DC sports headers
B&M fuel pressure regulator
fidanza 7.5 lb flywheel
NGK plug wires
Intake manifold power gasket
thats all i can think of at the moment..
whats the best item to make my car faster? the best bang for my buck...

headwork,cams, valvetrain, lighter wheels, a waaaay better header(dc can suck it), some pandp's(not gonna help much but a couple more cfm couldn't hurt.), S300, 84mm bore/sleeve. outta do it.

B20Z bottom end and an LS/vtec kit ~$300-400
Then get it tuned...
Going from a 1.6 to a 2.0 is like night and day.

B&M fuel pressure regulator <----waste of money

Intake manifold power gasket <-----replace intake manifold with skunk2 pro
get some cams springs and retainers....headwork....mugen makes a headgasket that will raise your compression by 0.4 since you will need to pull the head to replace the springs/retainers and get the head ported.
of course after you spent all that money on ported head, cams, springs retainers, header, intake manifold etc....you could have just boosted the thing and had way more power.

Buy a b18c1 block. Get a ls/b20 crank,ls rods or GE LS rods, jdm itr pistons, youre b16 head and you will have a poor mans stroked out ITR engine. a nice header and a good intake set up will get you close to 200 whp with some good cams and a propper tune.

if you want to stick with the b16 then its pretty much ALL in the head. cams, port n polish, port-matching, and header are going to be the best places to start. if you are really serious and want to stick with the b16 block, then all of the above and bore the block, a good forged rotating kit have it balanced, significant increase in compression
(12:1 or more), bigger cams, stiffer springs, retainers, IM, TB, bigger injectors, here is where an adjustable FPR can come in, rev it a bit higher, and...........TUNE, TUNE, TUNE. if you want to make sure and get the most out of your mods then get it to a dyno and someone who knows how to tune. but more importantly than that if you do big changes like cams or compression and dont get it tuned.......you run the risk of tearing things up.
NA id say without some very serious time, effort, and money i think a b16 is probably going to top out somewhere in the 220hp area(187-200hp at the wheels). just a guess there though.
beyond that you are going to have to boost it, or go up to a b18 or b20 block.
