back from the dead... any dyno's between these two cam's? i can get both used for the same price, so cost isn't a factor

Re: Toda A's or Skunk 2 Stage 1's (Hype Vtec)
I'm going to be dynoing my setup with A's real soon and tuning with Uberdata and Skunk2 Cam Gears. I'll let you know how it goes. My setup goes something like:
'98 B18C1 with ~71XXX miles
Toda Spec A's
Ebay SRI w/K&N
AN-R Intake Manifold
Hondata IM Gasket
Horribly Dented DC JDM Header
2.5" Carsound Cat
Tanabe Racing Medallion
Chipped p28 w/smoothened A/F and 8500 rev limit
All in my '98 GS-R. If you want to drop in and go, I've got some disappointing news. My car doesn't perform that great right now. Last weekend some GS-R that apparently dynoed 167 whp hung with me and along w/those mods, I've got an ITR tranny. Maybe something's wrong with my car, or these cams really need to be tuned with spark and proper cam timing. You might pull different results, but I was expecting at least some gains w/out tuning since they're only minor street cams.
On the bright side, my car still runs like a champ. I daily drive it in stop-and-go traffic to school. I also rev it to 8500 usually more than once a day. It doesn't pull like I wish it would (wish me luck with the dyno tuning), but it still runs like a Honda
Oh yeah also, the cams were bought for real cheap from a friend that had them in his ITR (G-teched 13.6 or something, but ran a pretty bad time untuned). If I had to buy a set new, I'd probably go for the Skunk2 S1's because they're cheaper, and they're much more proven (more people have used them with successful results) than Toda A's.

Re: Toda A's or Skunk 2 Stage 1's (alfaaay)
On some of the dyno charts I have seen toda spec A's have a really nice vtec transition (as you should have), but on the dyno charts of cars with skunk stage 1's, the vtec transition is this big jurk i.e. it is not very smooth. I personally hate this, and is a main reason I do not like these cams. But for the price you can't beat tthe skunk's, and you may even get more power out of the skunks, but i can't comment on that

quality = toda a
price = skunk
power = all in the tuning
I prefer any of toda's grinds vs skunk. Period.
That's just my preference and yours may vary.
But I've seen enough poor quality control and use of inferior materials from skunk - so much so that I would never touch any of their products.
