Default Stroked f20b compression test results

I just posted a few posts up on my new stroked f20b build.
Quick specs are:
-h22a head with a fresh valve job
-f23 crank / forged rods
-k24 forged pistons at87 mm bore
-skunk2 pro 2 cams

Started it up and it wasn't running right. I did have the cams set to zero at top dead center so I have not degreed the cams in yet, I still need to get the degreeing tool.

Anywas I ran if for a bit; would barely idle.
Compression test resulted in 225, 218, 200 and 215 psi.
Shouldn't this type of build read higher numbers?

Whats your compression ratio? That comes into factor... H23Vs BTs are 210-220.. USDM H22 210-190...
9.5-1 Compression H23V Blue Top 190... cold vs warm... car should be warm...

Also what kind of ecu are you running? P28 Crome or Neptune only cheap way out. You will need to get it tuned upon firing up. A normal H22 base map aint going to cut it...

I dont have it tuned yet.
According the calculating I have done the compression ratio should be inbetween 11.9 and 12.1-1.

The jdm h22a in stock form put out similar numbers as this motor; I do remember that. Although the motor wasnt really up to operating temp. when we ran these. I was using a p28 with just a chip and I was trying to get a base tune on there and get the idle to an optimal air fuel ratio but that didn't really happen yet either. I am going to go with neptune for real time programming soon.

both of my H22A and H23A Vtec has 240 compression..

depends of your c/r and cams / camgear settings

So if the cam settings are off that could be causing the c/r to read a little low.... ?

They are at zero. We set it up using the lines as if it was a stock motor, we didn't actually degree the cams..

Did you stroke it to run the 87mm pistons?

Its stroked to 97 mm using the f23 crank and the cylinders are bored out to 87 mm to run k24 pistons.

you'll need to degree your cams. It would be easier to put the stock cams in if you still have them, and when you can, pay your tuner to degree and tune at the same time at a later date.

We did a little degreeing on the cams, and now the compression reads 260 110 249 250.... Something is up but the motor seems to run a lot better than the previous settings.

Something is up.... 110 is no good... Do a leakdown... valves aren't properly sealed, valves are bent, ringland is broke, ring is broken... These are your logic choices...

We called a tuner and he advised that the rings might not be seated. He said to add a little oil to each cylinder and all the cylinders jumped up to 260-280 compression.
