Default Rare b20 P8R head question...

I've read about the difference in combustion chamber bore between this head and the ls/normal b20 (81mm compared to the P8R which is 84mm) heads and my question is, will this head work ok on my 96 LS block?? I have searched and no one has actually answered this question....

It will, but you won't make any use of it unless you are running an 84mm bore.
Other than the larger diameter bore it is the same as your LS head.

Same size valves as vtec heads, and I'm 99% sure the head flows better.

Good luck. Seriously, B18C5 heads are easier to come by!

I have a P8R head.

DO NOT put them on a 81mm motor.

No bad choice.

NEVER EVER EVER run a chamber that is bigger than the bore.

Cool. I will just get a b20 bottom end then. No big deal.

I know not to use it on a 81mm block, but explain what will happen if someone were to do so.

im sure you would have major sealing issues, with using a 84mm head on a 81mm block

I knew that much, but I thought that there was some other dangerous factors.

Now in a normal B20 block, you would need to change the pistons to make this head work b/c the B20 Pistons have 31mm valve reliefs and the P8R head has 33mm valves, right?

with stock camshafts, the valve reliefs are not an issue

they may be an issue with bigger bumpsticks

what if I used a b20 head gasket? will it still have sealing issues on the LS block?

no , not all of them
the p8r is still pretty rare
I've seen a lot more p75 equipped 99-00 JDM engines than p8r equipped JDM engines

no...do not put this head on an 81mm block!!!
it will in no way work without headaches and problems. As for the valve reliefs....this head will bolt onto any b20b/z without problems. Why would it? It comes on some JDM B20b's that use the same pistons as USDM B20b's that have the 81 mm P75 ls head.
