Generally accepted as a GS-R shortblock with a 16A head and ITR cams/manifold

There appear to be several variations....

1) 18C1 block with ITR (JDM or USDM) pistons and 16A head + ITR cams/wutever manifold
2) 18C1 block with ITR (JDM or USDM) pistons and complete ITR head

etc...etc....

I'm sorta "consulting" for "1."

im in the process of building a poor man's itr.

I am using a 94 gsr block with a b16a2 head w/ itr intake cam, gsr exhaust cam. skunk2 mani, itr throttle body, and rsr exmag exhaust.

I want to use aftermarket forged pistons w/ 10:1 compression, and aftermarket forged rods. I am only going with 10:1 because I may turbo it later on, and 10:1 seems to be a happy medium between boost and NA.

Oh, and new obd2 oil pump, gsr water pump, arp rod bolts, and arp head bolts. Should be a good platform for 350+ HP if I want to boost later on.

Mine has a GSR block with 11.5:1 CP pistons, Eagle rods, b16a2 head with no portwork, Skunk2 springs and retainers, Buddy Club spec 4 cams, Skunk2 intake mani, DCsports 4-1 JDM 4-1 header, 2.5" exhaust, ITR Trans. Not sure how much power it makes, its not tuned yet. So far its best was a 13.5 @ 99 running on a chipped p28. I'm hoping for either 200whp or a 12.9 1/4 mile with a much better header and neptune.

Sorry to sort of thread jack, but what is the point of putting a b16 vtec head on a gsr bottom end? Does it bump up compression a tad? If so, by how much. Does it flow better? I have no idea. Someone please help me out. Im confused.

I would really like to know.

OK, me and my buddy just got done building a poor-man type r but after driving it the motor seem to feel like there is a major power loss on top end. I've check the compression but it seems like I'm not getting the right psi for the piston that I've put in. Am I leaking compression anywhere? or did i not torque the head down right? A torque spec would also help just in case that i didn't torque down the head right. Any info would help out a newbie like me thank you. Here is a list of the build.

-B18C1 bottom block
-B18C1 Crank
-B16?? cylinder head (stock)
-Jdm ITR Piston (standard oem size)
-Stock Gsr injector
-Gsr timing belt
