Lay off the pipe brother. You can get any aftermarket bronze valve guide set for south of $100

I wouldn't bother putting OEM guides back in a head unless I absolutely HAD to. Your machinist will hate you and you won't have the benefits of a better guide.

I was told that I should use bronze valve guides with my oe sized aftermarket forged valves. Something about they help reduce the chance of dropping a valve..
Does anyone have any info on this?? I have brand new oe guides installed already..
Figured I could post this here to help..

Nothing inherently "wrong" with them. They are made to be installed with a tighter press fit than aftermarket guides, they have no shoulder to act as a stop and they are made out of a material that is more difficult to machine. That's why I said his machinist would hate him.
