Non-VTEC head with GSR valvetrain, Czech it out.
I searched, but couldn't find any info on this. A friend of mine might be getting some crower 403's for his LS. If he gets them he's gonna be getting a hella good deal ($200)
Anyways, i have my OEM GSR valvesprings and retainers and was wondering if these would work in the LS head.
Please don't just say they won't fit. I'm sure that if they slid right in many more people would be using them now. However, I do know that people use H22 springs in B-series with the use of shims. So if these would go in with minimal modifications they would definitely be worth using since.
thanks

I looked into it a while back, unfortunately, I don't remember what we ever figured out. I'll ask around and see if anyone remembers. I -believe- we decided they'd fit.

thanks....probably what it will take is actually disassembling the LS head, then getting the necessary machine work done, but just using shims would be nice. Still hopeful i guess.

its the height on 1 side, the springs arent tall enough. LS's have different height intake and exhaust springs (even though my rocket springs are the same height for i/e)

I am buying parts now for my B18A build, and I found that the RM springs can handle 404's, and are affordable, check them out. You can use your stock retainers and keepers.
Opps, I quoted the wrong person, I meant to quote 'The Stance', for LS valve springs that are affordable.

You can use, but I don't recommend. The LS springs are narrower. Using wider diameter dual springs is going to be loose-fitting on the outers and god-knows-what on the inners.
PM me for my recommendation. I don't want to say publicly as to remain a neutral advisor. Only here to promote knowledge.

Im using gsr supertech springs with supertech shims but using LS retainers reving the motor to 9000 rpm and not a single problem

I've used vtec inners with stock Ls outers and retainers and Crower 402's to 8,000 rpm. I don't recommend any higher than that. And I truly believe I was on the edge of catastrophe with that setup, but I ultimately changed to Crower dual springs and Ti retainers. I haven't done any spring pressure tests with the vtec inner and stock outer, but I imagine it isn't a whole lot better. The stock Ls springs are weak, no matter what.

also, did u have to use a vtec retainer or did the ls retainer have the spot for an inner spring to seat in

I used the Ls retainer. Didn't mod it for the inner spring. I never checked spring pressures.
This car is turbo'd.. So power output isn't the concern with this post. I'm simply relating real world experience..
With stock cams and springs we couldn't spin the engine past 6,300rpm @ 13psi. Got a hold of the 402's and knew they were going to need some stiffer springs. With no extra cash to buy more parts I got ghetto and tried the vtec inners. They fit very snug into the Ls springs.
It did work. Used them for 8 months of constant abuse. Car ultimately made 420 whp @ 22psi with a redline of 8,000. But I finally ditched them last week for a set of Crower dual springs and Ti retainers.
I think the benefit for this car was 1,700 more rpm. The fact it had 402's and held nicely was quite a shocker to some. Myself included. But I won't do it again. I'll take some time to get the spring pressure tested and report back soon.

Vtec inners and outers on intake side stock b20b with vtec inners exhaust side and went passed 8k on 403s and yes stock retainers but aftermarket would fit perfect

I"m also using Vtec inserts springs on stock B18b Springs/retainers and crower 402 cams till 8200rpm since 3 years. Its a RELIABLE combo
