The NEW B series shoot out

Re: Re: (Innovation)
I think you should give up on TOO taking part in the shoot out. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for him to participate since I think he's been full of **** since day one...but it just won't happen.

Yes sir, I have compiled a list of invitee's that I will be going through starting on the 25th
Final rules and guidelines will be posted on the 22nd.
I will also be taking applications for potential entries after the 25th to get a few up and comers in the mix as well.

Other than getting us further behind in our work, I don't see what purpose it would serve....especially since we can't possibly do more business than we already have.
With the track record the "organizer" has, I'd be very surprised if the contest ever takes place....
If thats the case i guess ill just take my business elsewhere since he couldnt possibly handle any more jobs.

All the rules sound reasonable. I think the strictly plenum-style manifold rule should be discussed with all the builders once they have all agreed to compete. I am not saying it should be one way or the other I just think you should get the general consensus of what the builders would rather use. There are limitations with the plenum manifold except maybe the jg sheet metal but there is also the disadvantage of the itb's in the low end power judging category mentioned before. They end up somewhat evening out. People reading about the results just need to realize the differences between the two styles.
can't wait...

Re: (B18CR_EG)
some builders like itbs better some like larry do not. Let them use what they want. Maybe someone wants a squareport setup and needs a custom manifold. Manifold lockdown only creates identical or almost engines. Lets allow some creativity.

Re: (philafelman)
ITB's arent going to be allowed, there is plenty of variation to be had with a single TB manifold, more than enough to make the competition interesting.

Re: The NEW B series shoot out (KiD Fr0m Da 516)
I know I'm new to the board, but I have been reading this forum for a long time and have just recently decided to join. I know there are a lot of really good engine builders out there and I will take nothing away from any of them, but I would like to see Miller from NRG tech in this competition. I have had an engine built by him and so have a couple of my friends and nothing but perfection from every single one.
I know rlz, ldl and a lot of other people on the list in the other thread are better known here on honda-tech and that's because they are always posting on here. Me and the rest of the guys who have work done at nrg are always telling them to post up more often and let people know, and their response all the time is " in due time everybody will know."
Miller and Tom are some of the most humble guys I have ever met and hopefully this will be a chance for everybody to finally know what they can do.
Tom I know your gonna read this, so get ready for me I'm gonna need a cage real soon.
one last thing why can't I vote in the other thread?

dohh..lol
I was thinking my current engine almost fit the criteria for an entrance..lol
(jk)
Are rebuild acceptable? like if I put in an ls crank and throw on a manifold? Or will the Dart block be considered an advantage?

Re: (Innovation)
Does anyone else think it would be cool to just have a couple ground rules?
I.E.
B series only
Size, say 2.2L or less
One type of gas
and just let everyone see what builders/honda motors are capable of??
Im sure this gives someone an advantage but damn it would be cool.

Well i read your first response when it came to me in the email, thats not too bad as it stands. I just think it would be great to eliminate as many rules as possible but still make it "do-able" for any of the builders.
Basically I wouldnt want to see it where everyone had to use almost the same engine. Id rather see who can come up with the best motor regardless of anything other than:
Size (pick a limit)
Fuel (93 octane as stated)
B-series motor
And anything else the builders want to add. That allows them the most ability to be creative, and thats what wins

Re: (B18TurboEF)
I don't know to me the person who makes the most w/the same parts is the better builder, you have to compare apples to apples.Otherwise you end up w/people wondering who is better afterwards because of the part differences, like ITB's making more power on the other competition.Familiarity breads inovation and competition like in NHRA pro stock the parts rules are very strict and you need to be very inventive to stay on top.Just my opinion though.

Re: (B18TurboEF)
I want it to be a competition of ability and skil, not a competition of who can use the biggest and baddest parts/combination.
The closer the rules/set ups, the better you get to see the engine builders skills and knowledge shine above one another.
