Default JDM All Motor B18C

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Honda, new to japanese cars, and new to the forum.

I was considering a project car however, such as a civic hatch or coupe. I know a japanese auto parts place that gets these JDM engines from japan. I was reading alot on The B18C (TYPE R) engine. now it produces roughly 200HP. I was told that these are some of the most highest revving engines, and most reliable engines. I would like to build this engine around a Street / Road Racing Application so streetable for daily use and high revving high strung for the track. I was looking to get about 250WHP ALL MOTOR that is. What steps should I take in order to achieve this? What are some good parts? ECT....

Thanks

Look in the all motor dyno thread at the top of the page for some ideals.

Also, use the search function.

if you are going to rebuild it, why not get a cheaper motor to begin with?

If you want 250 HP All motor, then I would suggest going K20. I'm no expert and correct me if i'm wrong, but to get 250 whp out of a B18 is a lot harder to get then out of a K20. Defcon racing built a DC K20 all motor, putting out over 250 to the wheels and I also believe that the engine internals were stock. They are located in Thornhill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...lated

Yeah it’s easy to say it, k20 cost more and installing the k20 is way harder then b18c. Ill you need to get a jdm b16 170hp with some modification you should be able to put 220whp and it wont cost u as much as k20 and b18c.

Making 220 whp on stock B16 sleeves NA is gonna cost you a whole lot of cheddar. Look at what Omniman had to go through just to break 200 whp.

Right On. Like I said i am new to Honda, I would like to know what the best engine to get and what the best bang for the buck is. Everyone i know who has a honda keeps telling me to get a JDM B18C but if it's gonna cost big money to get some HP then what is a good engine combo for the dollar. I mean and what are realistic horsepower gains from these engines. I won't buy an engine thats like crazy expensive and I need to dump more $ on top of that to get desired horsepower gains. what is a good platform to start out with in order to get some decent horsepower. I am saying 200WHP - 250whp Evem 180whp is good.

Ideas please.

Thanks

H2B

Cams, header, manifold, TB . . .

220-240hp and more torque than a built b series . . . all on a stock block , stock port head. .

With the money you saved over a k swap you can even afford to take the ladies out and show them your mad vtak yoooo

I would have to agree and say go with a B20 vtec,if not the K series would be the easiest to make that power

nitrous is an easy cheap way to achieve that, a b18c should take a 50 shot with no problem, however the OP said he wanted to take it road racing.
i have to agree with the other posters, if you are going to build an engine the type r is a waste of money.
b20/vtec would be the wisest, and cheapest way of making that power. also the easiest due to the increase in displacement.
or you can go H22A/B16 trans for less than a k20 and really achieve that power goal easily.

just get a gsr motor and build the head, you will get close to 250 depending how far you go with it.

Not 250 whp on a stock GSR with stock sleeves you won't. Maybe 220 whp fully build head and mad tunning.

I know of a guy who sent his head of to skunk2 and he redlines at 10,500... All day... And its a b16. So Any B series can rev high. It just depends on who does the work.. and if its done properly.

Port n' polish... FULL skunk2 valvetrain and i believe stage 3 camshafts? Might be wrong. I could ask if youd like. Everybody knows skunk2 is no BS so if you could afford that give them a call and send off that head
