gobs more torque.
far more responsice midrange. It will probably feel like it is running out of steam faster than your B16 did though. More stroke always shortens the powerband.

ok ok, dont listen to any of that, look at it this way.... a short stroke large piston putting out 1.8 or 1.9L will destroy a 89mm stroke lsvtec b.s putting down way more torque and a little more HP.
In my opinion id rather have a much faster + higher reving motor to match a large duration, high lift cam to produce power from 7-10k , midrange is all but insignifigant if you leave out of the hole @ 7,000 and never drop down lower then that. Its been my personal experience that a shorter stroke producing a similar HP number can still hang with a large displacment 1.8 or 2.0 contrary to popular belief. go b16

I had a mild LSVTEC a few years back that detonated on me and I switched to a bone stock b16. The LS had a lot more bottom end and was definitely faster, but the b16 revs a lot easier and IMO is a lot more fun to drive.

i think that i just found a new best friend. i've said this for years and have been shitted on for saying it. also, the 16 is dirt cheap.

its a good theory which will work as long as you stay about 7rpm you ll be in your power band, but you will never produce the kind of numbers a ls/vtec b20/vtec will. remember a 1.6 block will only produce so much power n/a,which the b16 block limit is basically around 200whp.
so even if your staying in your power band and making lets say 170-200 whp reving between 7rpm-9000rpm,and you will still get own by lets not even include b20/vtec lets just say a ls/vtec making 190-220whp from 6500-8500rpm.
and thats not the only difference other noticable differences will be that the ls/vtec will be a more fun daily driver will have great midrance, and will not make you have to rev the motor past 6rpm from light to light just to get there, i had a b16 built before and i hated it so much cause daily driving sucked big time on it,good top end for a 1.6, but im not racing everyday so i was much happier when i went with the b20 setup.
