Default head gasket leak....

ok, brand new cometic high pressure head gasket on an ls/vtec b18b, b16a head.

it leaks. i checked the distributor, vtec solenoid and oil feed line. the corner of the valve cover gasket was leaking a little bit, so i put rtv sealant on it.

now, oil is leaking a LOT down the front of the tranny right on the seam between the block and the tranny. the aebs head studs were all torqued down, the head gasket was brand ****** new, and it still pours out. sorry for rambling, but wtf is wrong with this picture??

Oil doesn't leak from the head gasket...if t did your car will run like ****. It's proabably your cam seal leaking from top and oil splashing or dripping down to the head-gasket area, but it can't be the head-gasket itself. Also, you're not suppsed to put any sealant on the head-gasket, it's just supposed to be the head-gasket all by itself torqued down correctly. Good luck!

You could always do a compression test to be certain. I'd spray everything down with carb cleaner, and let it run until you see a leak, then you'll know for sure where the leak is coming from.

alright, i know its not the cam seal...theres no oil leaking on the side of the head dizzy side at all.....

i had the car running at idle i looked down and saw that there was oil literally weeping from the passengers side front corner of the head/block corner, the same thing that tons of people have written about being the cam seal or dizzy gasket leaking.

i did a compression test today, and all of the numbers were strong, so im not worried about that.

there was, however, a small leak coming from the top of the distributor, running back towards the firewall of the car, dripping down towards where it COULD be running and leaking way down to the middle of the head gasket to the front of the head, running down the tranny....

seriously, im so fed up with replacing the head, retorquing it and going over and over again i want to scrap the whole mawfackin thing...

if it wasnt for the beefed up, throttle responsive insanity i see behind it, i would have by now....

my **** did the same thing a while back. it would leak between the head and the block right next to the tranny, oil would drip down the block. i just resufaced the head and i slaped a new head gasket on. and i put the head on and torqued everything down to specs and no more oil leaks.

This happened to me once when I tried a LS HG on a B18C...Is there a chance you may have received the wrong gasket?

I guess the next thing would be to check the block for straightness..It sucks you gotta pull the head again, but think about it this way. You gotta be getting really good at it by now right?
In the end, youll be glad you stuck with it...
Get a machinists straightedge and a feeler guage and check

haha yeah, thas what it comes down to....think im jus gonna take it to the local honda shop and let those guys take a look at it....they could take a look and tell me straight up if its warped or not, then jus have it shaved a lil to even it all out.....

the nipple sticking out is probably the size of a toothpick, but the whole unit is a lil smaller than a quarter

it did look like there was some residue from around that area, but not enough to be leaking as much as there was....there was a thick *** coat all the way down the front of the tranny.....pisses me off....

you said you milled the head...what kind of alignment dowel pins are you using? you might have to shave a little bit off of them.
