Default Going from 2.0 B-Series to K-Series, is it worth it?

Is it worth the money/time/effort to go from a low 12 sec b-series motor to a built k-series? Im debating on selling my current 2.0 b-series setup and going K, but the difference is alot $$$. Has anyone ever been in this type of situation before, how did it work out in the end?

Just looking for some input from board members, thanks!!!

Do you wanta go faster?
Are you happy with what you got?
Do you have the money to do so?
Are you willing to give up what you have?
Worth it how?
How much more do you want?

1. Yes
2. I am , but the setup is pretty much maxed out
3. I do, but i'll build it slowly. I dont want to drop that much cash all at once
4. It will be hard, but i am willing to give it up for something thats better
5. Worth it as in, power, reliability, basically was it worth the money?
6. Solid 11 sec 1/4 mile passes in a 92 VX chassis that still has full glass, interior and runs on pump gas.

Do it. The K-series is a really responsive motor to mods. It may be expensive, but you can definitely go further with it.

k series is still expensive, but you will be able to go faster.
b series is cheaper, but like you said, your setup is pretty much maxed out.
you could always go H2B...IMO dollar per hp wise is the smartest.

You already have a fast all-motor street car. If you want to go faster and stick with N/A, you are very limited on what you can do to your present setup.

You would be surprised on how cheap you can pick up K-series components for. You can find Accord K24 longblocks for under $500 all day. Parts are becoming easier to come by.

There are plenty of simple 300whp K-series floating around. That would definately bring your car to the next level.

Holllyyy you been missing in action for a while. Welcome back man.

Is it worth it for you going K ??..... how bad do you want them low 11's???
If you want them bad then yeah K is worth it.
But you can still swap over your 12sec Bseries into a crx shell and get some lower 11's as well.

give it another year. K motors are dropping in price. Drive this motor this summer, save your money and have lots saved up for when the K comes...

let me have my 2 cents here:

I have and EG-6 "lightweight mode" with B18R engine on it , with few bolt ons, being the more complex the addition of Spoonsports camshafts and cam gears.

I use this car for track only , and there are already 3 K20´s here on circuit. And till this date none K20 with same mods as mine as ever been faster that my B , talking is performance only, where i inclusively can pass him, slowly , but i can...

My B series is so much reliable and gives me a smile everitime i hit vtec!

Thanks for making me not depress!!.

I still want a k20 though..........although I think i'll just wait for the next series of engine that honda will make to surpass the K-series.......( I might be waiting a long time.)

Or i'll just get a k-series engine in 3-4 years.

The money you spend on a K20 , you can instead , put a B18R on it, and remove weight to your car, by replacing items with carbon fiber.

I will try to hit 230HP with my next stage in the B18 , with buddy club IV cams, Hondata S300 and RC injectors, along with higher compression ratio.

I will post some inboarb too see B18 singing ;

actually the b series block has a cooling deficiency that was eliminated in the k series block. that's why piston number 3 (i believe it was number 3) is usually the first to go in b series blocks..grandpa (George Knighton) can explain better than i can.

that's one of the reasons that convinced him to go k in his ITR.

s0n...if you got behind this 91 octane motor in an EG hatch and drove it everyday in socal streets, you'd post up this dyno sheet everywhere on the boards

don't trip s0n, not everyone have reliable motors...this one has outlasted about 5-6 of my friends' motors
